iHope, Courtyard Marriott, and Broad were the only things rising before LEVEL joined the fray.

I was at the whole foods at 8th & grand yesterday morning & the store appears to be doing quite well. A bit smaller than I thought it would be, but quite a few ppl browsing the aisles & lined up at the check out stands. The combo of it & the adjoining lobby to the 8th & grand apt bldg is quite nice & convenient.

A woman who was behind me at the checkout said she leased a unit in the bldg not too long ago & said the apts are filling up at a rather good pace.

I recall parking in that location a few yrs ago when most of that block was still a huge parking lot, full of potholes, btw. That area now gives off a nice, up & coming feeling.

DT is finally reaching a point where it should have always been from the beginning!

What is the status of the Oceanwide & 820 Olive projects? Both are 50 stories. Are they going up yet? Also, The 54 story tower at Metropolis, what is the status of that? All 3 of these will add to the skyline nicely. Thanks.

? All of those are under construction and have been for a better part of a year.

The Broad in downtown Los Angeles attracted more than 820,000 visitors in its first year of operation, according to the museum. That is nearly triple what museum executives and founders Eli and Edythe Broad had originally projected. It also stands out as one of the largest audiences for first year attendance at a new art institution in the US, the museum said.

In addition, the institution reports that it created 490 jobs and generated $8.2 million in local, state, and federal tax revenue last year.

Breaking down the attendance figures, 62 percent of visitors to the Broad identified their ethnicity as other than Caucasian, compared with a national art museum average of 23 percent, according to the 2015 National Art Museum Benchmark Report from Morey Group. The average visitor was 33 years old, 12 years younger than the national art museum average. The museum also drew a large family audience, with 17 percent of parties including children, compared to the national art museum average of 11 percent. And more than 80 percent of museum visitors said they had little knowledge of contemporary art.

I don't give a damn about shadows and buses. Buses don't have faces; buses are not capable of laughter. My concern is for the children. If these tiny tots were to live in the shadows their vitamin D production would suffer and henceforth their tiny limbs could become soft. The condition of rickets would occur and they may forever be condemned to wear braces and become helpless cripples. The only option would be to supplement and supplement more with vitamin D. Unfortunately, this in itself creates a generation of "pill poppers." This is no joke! My God, where does it all end?

Someone a while back made a beautiful green chart with all of the under construction, approved and proposed projects with approximated timelines. What page was that on? Can we repost it with the recent updates in groundbreakings and construction? Thank you

The sad thing is, that building actually will get opposition. I'm betting of a letter of opposition from the Historical Cultural Neighborhood Council.

Slapped some crappy podiums on there for anyone wondering what the general massing of the development on fig will look like. This is totally vague and not super detailed in any way, this is just for scale, however the heights are all exactly as listed. Also dont mind too many of the buildings in the back, some are u/c but I havent bothered to delete any of the ones that aren't yet so it's not 100% accurate.

Chinatown needs a few 20+ story apartment towers and more density and some interesting back alleys like SF Chinatown. I want to see ducks painted orange (for Beijing duck) hanging in windows. Authentic. It needs a connection to Dodger Stadium, and Union Station transit hub (perhaps a elevated monorail or gondala?). Would be used year round when the Dodgers build some 25 story apartment buildings in the parking lots. Great views up there. Would sell well. They could call it "Uptown" or "Dodgertown".

Also, I sure miss the old Little Joe's Italian restaurant next to Chinatown. Best Italian food in L.A. in Chinatown. When I was a kid, I used to like going to Little Joe's because I thought "Little Joe" Cartwright from Bonanza owned it. My dad said no, Ben Cartwright did. At least that French dip place Phillipe's is still nearby

A couple of those for the homeless would solve the sidewalk camping problem. Showers, restrooms, counseling, drug & alcohol rehab, job placement, food. Just not enough shelter beds. So they camp on the streets and under bridges and stink and pee on the sidewalks and fall deeper & deeper into hopelessness because they have no place to clean up or use a restroom or get a good nights rest, and we all pretend they don't exist and avert our eyes. People should be allowed to fall only so far before being saved by a no frills "safety net". We can do better as a nation for the homeless, and it won't cost one tenth of 1% of what our endless wars do. Who knows? Perhaps one of you reading this will be homeless one day. Billionaires have their names on concert halls and museums and skyscrapers, and that is fine and good. But if I had a billion dollars, I'd like my name on a homeless shelter or transitional housing.
