What's going on with the little site across the laneway from that proposal? I thought it was incorporated into this project but I guess it inst?

Yeah, I had thought it was part of the site too (based on a BIV article) but it wasn't converted to temporary park, so I don't know what's up with it (former Tony Roma's site).

Liking it more and more. Could use with a little more height given the size of its neighbors but it looks good regardless.

Are there view cones that affect this site?

I'm not being facetious when I say this:
there might be the possibility that, being made of wood, the building could be severely damaged in a sustained high windstorm.
It's happened before. (high windstorms causing damage to wooden structures, even trees). There may be me wind resistance issues is what I'm saying.
I wonder if it's more of a fire risk, too, being made of wood.

That area is going to look sweet! Vancouver House looks ridiculously tall in that Burrard Bridge rendering.

I don't see how a taller building will fail to respect its neighbour. It can complement it, like how the modern looking West Georgia tower complements the vintage Hotel Georgia. You know what's disrespecting? In my opinion it's to have a bastaedized Frankenstein modern built on top of a heritage building. If those kinds of projects can get approved in this city, I don't see why this project can't have the pointy building go taller.

A better and more accurate rendering of this tower: not so hot compared to the previous pointy renderings. The types of claddings used can kill or enhance the final looks.

It's kinda ridiculous that they call this building heritage. The structure may be 100+ years old but that entire facade; windows, cornice and all was put on in the 90's and is very 'of the era'. Nothing original remains and the grey just makes it look sad... why is colour dying??

Here are some images of the display boards from the open house for the 118-150 Robson Street proposal. Click on the images to enlarge. If someone wants to start a thread for it I'll post the full size images there.

Thanks for the material. Looks like this won't be standing out at all and will only contribute to the table top . I hope it will do more on the street level. Pretty uninspired design, though.

Was at the open house as well, came near the end and might of ran into you as I saw someone taking pics of the boards.
Feel the mixed use proposal is appropriate for the site and more hotel space and restaurant space is a good fit. Was interesting to see the back forty site not be built out to it's height potential under the view cone but instead chopped down to a height similar to it's neighbours in an attempt to prevent shadowing on Terry Fox plaza.

I was taking those pics about 5:15 so it probably wasn't me. I also saw a couple other people taking pics around that time.

It looks like they'll save at least three sides of the facade, including the back alley side. It'll make their job more difficult and mine too as I try to get pics of the excavation from ground level.

I came across this while going through some archival photos lately. Nearly spot on! You can even still make out the rail line in the now photo, covered over with asphalt.
