What a very crisp, clear photo of Philadelphia. I didn't realize there were so many signs on the buildings. It doesn't look bad, I just noticed how clear it is.

Aramark picks new HQ. There is a paywall that I can't get past, but I'm curious to see. Can anyone read this and share what we'd all like to know? Bizjournals posted an article on the weekend, which is rare, which means it must be juicy.

Announcement may come Monday. The article as written seems to lean towards 2400 Market.

Interesting, but a bit confusing. Are they considering moving their entire operation into this proposed building (http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=214804), or a new TBD design ?

Aramark and Gov. Wolf to make big announcement

Gov. Tom Wolf will join Aramark officials to make a "major announcement" on Monday, sparking speculation that the global food services giant has decided on a new Center City headquarters location.

Wolf's office said the press conference will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Cira Green on 30th Street, which happens to have a perfect view across the Schuylkill River of 2400 Market Street, a location the company has been considering.

there are layers of architecture over 300 years

a early 18th c church(Christ Church) 1727

early 19th c. row of 4/5 story commercial buildings that were once much closed to the river - 1830/1840

an early 20th c. river pier (now condos)

etc etc including late 20th early 21st c skyscrapers

well I guess we will figure out if the building has been redesigned at the press conference. If Wolf is going to be there it suggests they are getting some sort of financial assistance from the state.

It may have that perfect view of 2400 Market and it probably is 2400 Market. But a small part of me is wondering about the location of the press conference. Cira Green, while open to the public, is owned by Brandywine Realty Trust but 2400 Market is being redeveloped by PMC. Maybe Aramark is going to kickstart that 2100 Market building, which is owned by Brandywine.

Also, does anyone else think that a press conference replete with the governor is a little over the top for a company that is moving a few blocks away into what I believe is a smaller office footprint? They're not moving from out of state or out of the region or significantly expanding their operations. Is it such a major victory these days that they elected to stay in the city/state that such pomp and circumstance is necessary? What does that say about our economy?

Aramark, which has anchored 1101 Market St. since 1988, will lease nearly 300,000 square feet on the top five floors of the nine-story office building under construction at 2400 Market, a former automobile warehouse that long served as home to the Marketplace Design Center.

PMC Property Group, which is developing the building in a venture with the Lubert-Adler Real Estate Funds, had previously planned the project as a 19-story structure topped with residential units. The revised plan makes it Philadelphia-based PMC's first project without a residential component.

Indeed. A 9 story office building? Wow. I really wonder what happened with the residential component. Unless you work in the building or happen to be driving right by the building you won't even notice this. 300sf could've launched a real office tower.

Lame. Might as well be Navy Yard north. At least it won't be the Great Wall of the Schuylkill anymore. I hope they do some worthwhile retail/restaurants in the promenade area or it won't do much for the after hours life of that area.
