...because anything new is scary. We already went through this with Compass - there was a big scene over the chaos it would cause and then not much happened. The same thing here - not long after it opens people will adjust and wonder what all the fuss was about (again).

hate to ask but if i am downtown and i want to go to coquitlam centre i can catch the expo to broadway and transfer as i usually did or catch the train the longer way round to lougheed and transfer there right?

my old home base there was at lougheed station, look forward to trying it out at christmas

No like, this is like one of those things that make absolutely no sense unless the digital signage played a much bigger role in indicating there's more trains following going other directions.

Still though, I think TransLink has been stealing form Robertson's Fentanyl stash.

The fastest way would be to take the expo line from downtown to Commercial-Broadway, then transfer to the M-Line and yes you can take it all the way east to Lincoln station. You could go all the way around and transfer at Lougheed if you felt like it though.

Ahh the good olde Expo or Millennium Line to Lougheed debate ... honestly if you commute it daily both routes have their pros and cons depending on the time of day.

if i wanted a guaranteed seat to downtown i would take the long way round from lougheed, cause by the time I transferred at broadway i would either have to sit there and watch 2 or 3 trains over full go past and then get in and stand

Or in the case of AM peak hours, you can wait for the short-turn train starting form Commercial Broadway that runs every 9 minutes

It sounds like the 791 is being left as-is for the time being. Although if the 701 + Evergreen extension end up proving faster, it wouldn't surprise me if it got axed in a year or so.

Given the anticipated traffic jams as a result of Ridge Meadows folks driving to the Coquitlam Central Park-n-Ride, cancelling the 791 is wishful thinking at this point... unless HOV lanes are built in both directions between Pinetree @ Lougheed and the Pitt River Bridge.

Oh I agree with you guys. I was just talking about the 'fastest' route. I myself get on at Lougheed (I live in Port Moody) and I currently often take the long route as I get the seat. But if I were to get on a train in Port Moody, I would transfer at Commercial-Broadway.

On another note, we were driving past the south tunnel portal and saw a Mk II skytrain slowly making it's way into the tunnel!

Implementing the new Evergreen Extension changes, to test trains running in actual schedule and operations, and to let people get used to the new system.

They'll test the Lougheed-Lafarge Lake section for 2 months and then open it.

I think it's weird that they've labeled the evergreen stations with "evergreen extension". If the millennium line doesn't branch off, like the expo line will, then that means it's just one single line... so why label the new stations as being the evergreen extension? Just seems needlessly complicated.

Because they've been talking Evergreen for years, and if they just went "hey it's just Millennium" people would get confused.
