Space beside Anthropologie window

There is still a large unoccupied retail space fronting Rideau Street beside the Anthropologie window. Does anyone know what will open there?

Back in April (2016) a Twitter post showed a floor plan of the first level; at that time it indicated that a Richtree was going to go in there...Not sure if that is still the case or not...

Originally, the renderings showed an Earl's Restaurant somewhere around that location, but I suspect it was just a place-holder. I haven't seen/heard of anything since the renders were released to suggest they were coming.

I did hear over a year ago, that a Richtree was suppose to go beside the Anthropologie shop and they were suppose to open a Earl's restaurant in the Rideau Centre. However, I have not heard any news recently. I know that they had opened a Bento Sushi near the garage on the 1st floor and a Joey's is suppose to open next spring.

I went to check out the Rideau Centre for the first time on Holiday Monday since I was away for 2 weeks; Rideau Centre was crazy, packed. It reminded me of Eaton Centre how busy it was on Monday.

I really loved the changes and can’t wait till next year when Joey’s opens which will add to the street level ambiance. I also checked out the new Saks off the Fifth in the basement of the Bay. They weren’t totally finished the renos but it was very depressing, felt dark, not much lighting especially with the low ceilings. Compared to the changes they made to the main floor, so bright and airy, not sure why they did not decide to do the same there, it reminded me of Filene's Basement in Boston.

We also had lunch at Bazille with the family on the rooftop patio in Nordstrom (excellent day to be outside), they had a kids menu and food was good.

Goods, I love the changes in the Rideau Centre too. I would say that it looks much better than before. I ate at Joey's in Lansdowne. The food was decent. I just had a standard burger and fries. I will try the Joey's at at the Rideau Centre, once it opens. I ate at the Bazille in Nordstrom last year and I found that the Niçoise salad and strawberry shortcake was quite good. I bought two pairs of pants at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and the pants were awfully expensive. They cost $1600. I am not going to this shop again. Is Richtree and the Earl's pub going to open at the Rideau Centre?

I also went to Sak's Off Fifth and thought it was pretty lacklustre. The prices actually seemed quite decent, but its really good if you want some grey clothing though. Lets see if they can find their niche. Based on construction adjacent to the Bay doors which lines up with construction on the Sak's level, it looks like they're putting in direct access via escalators or something of that nature.

Mykl, I also bought those two pair of pants in Manhatten and the prices at Saks Fifth Avenue there are probably more expensive.

^ Much less tacky and in-your-face than most mall's Christmas decorations. I like it.

I wish! You'd think that if Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Calgary all have a store location then we would as well. Though, the three in Toronto and two in Montreal may be working against us. I mean Play Value Toys is successful (i assume) in the middle of nowhere! Granted they sell more than just LEGO, but LEGO does seem to be their big thing. Regardless, I was very disappointed when I saw that LEGO was not opening a store in the expansion.

It's only a matter of time for Lego. Stores in nearby cities is no indication of whether we'll get one.

I just wonder if it'll go to Rideau or Bayshore.

Regional exclusives seem to prefer Rideau these days, but demand at Rideau is high and it might be hard for Lego to get in.

There aren’t that many empty locations left at Rideau, here is what I remember, there might be an opening in the former Zara location on the 3rd floor unless that will be included in the new Sportscheck location. There is the temporary location for Lululemon, I also remember seeing one empty store in the new development.

I assume the calendar store in the old zara is not a permanent feature. The mall office (across from the old zara location) is much larger and more prominent than one would expect for a mall office and that might be there as a placeholder. I think the empty space in the expansion is a future restaurant.

By my count there was 5 or 6 empty storefronts in the mall. I remember there being an empty spot on the second and third floors of the expansion. Where is the space that you think will be a restaurant?

When they first opened that new customer service office the people working in there said it was temporary.

Yes, that is the spot I was thinking. As for the restaurant, I am aware of the restaurant, it will be another location for a Joey's.

According to Retail Insider, Spareparts will be opening at the Rideau Centre at the end of March; another first-to-market retailer for Ottawa/Rideau Centre.
