Thanks for those pics mcminsen! Much appreciated, i had never taken a look at the whole structure before. Just looking now, the Kingston has alot of potential to expand the hotel into the right half of their property where the single storey cinder block addition is. If they did rebuild that half they could at least have a more open concept restaurant space fronting Richards, that alley is bleak. If they set back the new facade on the right they could have space for a patio at the front of the hotel. I wonder if they can also build up, the original 4 storey section appears to be poured concrete so they should be able to add one or two floors above. Would the city allow expansion of the hotel?
Another thing, they should rebuild their awesome old neon sign to it's former glory

(coinciding with Vancouvers soon to be loosened signage bylaws obviously
