Seriously, the building is not so large that refreshing the exterior will break the bank.

Across The Board is going to be closing up after the summer. A new "dive bar" will be opening there funded by the owner of The Toad. Good idea, with Fox & Fiddle now close, The Kings Head is kind of the only good (busy) basic late night drinking place in The Exchange. Lots of fancy cocktail places in the area but those don't generally keep people around too late.

I have been told that the Fox & Fiddle closed due to fighting amongst the partners. A portion of those partners will apparently be re-opening it "under new management" shortly.

No they bought one of the owners out in the winter. They stopped paying their franchise payments, if anything re-opens it will be head office finding a new franchisor, and possibly under a new banner.

Another bar going into old Dylans/St James Tap and Table; I dont understand how it works out any differently though. That landlord there drives a high rate supposedly and the space is just too big.

The lineup on Winnipeg Square looks to be closed permanently. Seems like that food court can only support a limited number of restaurants. Meltwich came in a couple of months back, and now the Lineup is out.

Also, the "revamped" Pizza Hotline in Wpg Square is open, although it doesn't look much different, but seems like it has a quick service option as well as sit down

The Lineup seemed to have issues before it even opened at Winnipeg Square. It was originally part of the group running what is now Bodegoes but reportedly there was a business split of sorts and the Winnipeg Square location and the old name went to one side and the Albert St and CityPlace locations went to the other side with the new name.

In terms of the Winnipeg Square Pizza Hotline the sign seemed to suggest they were changing out their oven to a fast cook one (done in 180 seconds).

^ Smart move for Pizza Hotline. They'll sell a lot more pizza if it's quick serve as opposed to eat-in.

I walked by yesterday and it looked pretty good.

They still have the sit down section. Looks like they are offering both.

Good thing.

It was nice to have a decent casual place to sit down in the square that didn't feel un-current.

^^^^The Winnipeg Square Pizza Hotline is a great place to stop for a bite and beverage before a Jets game. It's nicely connected to the walkway on those cold nights or just a quick zip up Hargrave to get to MTS Centre.

I've stopped a few times. Very quick service (180 second pizza oven) and comfortable.

also looks like a pronto café opening up

damn once all this opens up well add about 1500 people to the work force

than construction workers can set their focus on 300 main st sky city wclc new headoffice wag expansion

its funny while Winnipeg continues to add jobs Calgary loses another 500 atleast.... I feal really bad for Calgary its going to be a ghost town soon with minimm wage at 15 dollars instead of 20 businssesss shutting down every month probably have 100....that city is so far gone people cant even see it... there is so much better and easier oil to extract in other parts of the world that have less taxes and levies that most oil companies will never do business there again ahahahhahahahahahhahahahah

1500 people? almost all making minimum wage, better than nothing, but not the kind of jobs that create REAL growth that families can live on

Let's keep the thread on-topic, we're not discussing Calgary, their job situation, oil production and the hard times it's fallen on.
