Thanks for those great Montreal pics. They really show Montreal's evolving skyline and the city's great urban form.

Montreal's skyline may get your attention, but it is the lower-lying areas, the foreground, that beckon, draw you in, make you want to explore. Blocks of glassy bank towers don't make for very interesting urban fabric. Very quickly, your neck tires of craning upwards. Besides, the hot babes do not linger long in the financial district.

Actually you are right Montreal does have things that are unique in terms of qualities of it's own. Toronto and Montreal are very different cities, so is Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. The latter three do happen to have skylines.
This obsessive "me too please look at me too" Montreal attitude towards Toronto is getting old. Montreal does not have a skyline...there I said it! Now why doesn't Montreal focus on what they do have, instead of being jealous of Toronto all the time.

Don't want to start a debate, but Edmonton has a skyline and Montreal doesn't? Are you for real?

Edmonton has a skyline. Montreal has a skyline. EVERYBODY HAS A SKYLINE! There, I said it.

Montréalers can't be jealous of Toronto cause they don't even know what's going on outside Montréal. In the news, they rarely talk about what's happening in the ROC.
Radio-Canada doesn't even have a Canada edition. TVA , same thing. 90% Quebec, 5% International and 5% Ottawa (government). The province of Quebec is run like a country inside a country, our news are divided by regions.

Where did the "Montreal jealous of Toronto" come from? Were there posts deleted or something? I don't understand how that came about based on the last few pages...

Alas, all the result of one silly post by a newbie.

You have to back a little further. This thread moves fast enough that you'll have 30 pages of lighthearted discussion followed by 10 of a complete flamewar. Part I of the thread shows some more as well, it pops up whenever someone says something obviously manufactured to create controversy like "Winnipeg's skyline is better than Toronto" or "Vancouver needs more glass condos" (Exaggerating in this case so I don't start anything myself).

I guess I missed a (yet another contrived and unnecessary) flame war.

Good.

There is actually hardly any jealousy on this forum between Toronto and Montreal. In fact, Montrealers here often lavish compliments on Toronto's skyline and everyone admit that it is by far the dominant skyline in this country. So I'm not sure why you wrote that, but that's not exactly the best way to make an elegant and friendly entrance into the forum for a newbie.
