That still looks like the WW terminal just off of 51st. Did they expand it?

Any photo updates of the finished airside new buildings at YQR? Also any bets on what daily direct flight to the USA Regina will get?

As much as I'd like to be wrong, I don't make any bets about daily US service anytime soon.

Winnipeg just lost another daily United flight (so far - of course forward bookings can always change that). I wouldn't hold my breath.

Recently, the RAA was talking with Alaska and Southwest; we'll see what happens.

What are the chances of down the line, United or Delta bringing service back? Also, would American Airlines ever fly into Regina?

I would say it's likely that Delta would come back at some point if anything. American is a remote possibility, being that they'd no longer have to compete for the ORD route.

I really feel that whoever it is, it has to be to a hub somewhere in the midwest. Chicago, MSP, Detroit.

I think that is going to be a hard sell now that Delta as pulled out.

Alaska would be SEA. They are probably the best chance. I fly through SEA all the time. Key advantages, great connections up and down the coast with both Alaska and Delta flights as well as Asia. Key disadvantages is the airport is handling far more international flights that it was designed for and clearing customs can be a problem during certain times of the day.

Flights to Hamilton from Regina start October 8th on Saturdays with New Leaf. Just got an email and booking is available online now.

I would disagree. Now that I live in Victoria (instead of Saskatoon), I frequently end up on Alaska connecting through SEA. Out of YYJ our US options are Alaska(Horizon) or Delta to Seattle and United to SFO. I find Alaska the better of the two.

I find service levels higher than any of the other US airlines, there is a north-west culture to the airline. As a customer it fells less corporate than the other airlines. I think WestJet presents a similar customer experience.

The one draw back from Regina or Saskatoon is the same one that we have out of YYJ, you would clear customs in SEA. If you arrive at a slow time it is not a problem, if you arrive at a bussy time the lineups can be long.

Based on their current route map, if Alaska expanded to Regina it would only offer service to SEA.

In terms of Southwest, as they don't operate any routes in Canada currently that would be a much bigger hurdle to climb as they would need to get Transport Canada approvals first. I doubt they would do that to only offer service to Regina.

I think service to AS's Seattle hub would be a win. Obviously it's of little use if you're headed east, but AS has the western US (including Hawaii) covered quite nicely. I think it would be a solid addition. I'd love to see them come to YWG although I'm not sure if the market could support it without dropping something I'd hate to lose (DEN).
