A guy on Facebook posted his tour of the new HKS-Designed U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota. They're interesting pictures to look at and see some similarities in design with our stadium (obviously U.S. Bank is on a much grander scale than NMS).

I also noticed the similarities when seeing it on TV. Similar seating layout, with the angled wall portions near the goal lines. Top notch stuff!

Yes that is a ribbon board that was put up a few weeks ago. there are close-ups on Riderfans.

Why couldn't it be? Hadn't even thought about NMS having a sprinkler system, but if it does, I'd presume that it's a dry system.

I can see from the S webcam that the SW stairwells are now covered with the perforated siding. I assume they are now working on covering the NW ramps. Has anyone seen that? Nothing is started on the NE ramps yet.

Looks like they're setting up temporary scaffolding to install the upper ribbon boards across the east side. Removing the seats makes it easier to install the scaffolding and protects the seats from any damage, should a tool fall off the scaffold platform.

Just saw a pic on Twitter of the north end Terrace and it is in fact concrete and not asphalt as originally speced thank God. With the addition of trees and lots of benches, etc. It should look pretty good.

Yeah, that makes sense.

The installation of the NE board looks like the frame is put up, then the cooling/electronics unit and then the video board? I'm not sure how that all works.

I agree. I drove by there today, as is my Saturday routine, and thought the same thing. I'm glad it's concrete. Looks more professional than asphalt.

Drove in through 10th Ave entrance yesterday. I don't think I was supposed to, but the gate was open.

The concrete terrace is complete in the NE except for that looks like tree and flower bed spaces. The NW is just getting started. they are still building forms. In between is done and is actually mostly asphalt, but in hindsight I believe this will actually be the parking lot for the Rider Store on days other than game day.

I wonder when they will open up the new Rider store and move into the new offices?

I've been a seasons ticket holder for about 6 years now and there is nothing that I will miss about the old stadium. The whole last ____ amount of games thing is less than a get in to say goodbye thing and more of a countdown to something awesome. Although I have the decent seats in the south end zone, I won't miss the food, portapotties, and that cold wind that made the 2013 Western semifinal almost impossible to attend. There was just us 4 guys violently shivering in 2 sections of empty seats, lol. I made sure that we are getting our tickets in the black because it's still a decent price (for 4 tickets) and we will be under a roof with protection from wind.

I will say one thing about the old stadium.

When I was a kid in Saskatoon I cheered for Toronto and the Bombers (most of my family is from Manitoba). But, when I turned 12 we moved to Caronport (by Moose Jaw). They have or had a tradition of going to the Labour Day Classic.

I remember the first time we drove in from the west and I saw the West grandstand towering above the houses. It was a moment of awe and wonder. Walking into the stadium was incredible. I had never seen so many people in one place. We sat behind the pep band and the experiences... cheering, doing the wave, throwing nibs into the tuba... It was one of my favourite times of each of my high school years. That's when I became a fan.

I had a similar experience this year coming home from a road trip to Calgary. I saw the curved white roof above the houses and the memories from yesteryear overwhelmed me. And just like the first time seeing the old grandstand, I knew good memories would follow.

When I have kids, they will get to experience this too. In a little more comfort... and minus the whole nibs in the tuba thing.
