According to the sign out front, it is "Canada's oldest surviving motion picture house". Yup.
Beaverton, Ontario, the location of it, is contention as quite possibly the ugliest town in Canada if you ask me.

The south shore of Lake Simcoe is generally considered to be one of the poorest, most racist parts of Southern Ontario. The entire area is a gigantic shithole.
The Laurentians north of Montreal feature numerous lakes and rolling hills. A beautiful region. Unfortunately most of the urban landscape resembles something like this.
