They would be better because terms like hot, warm, cool, cold, etc. are totally subjective and can vary wildly from person-to-person, location-to-location, and season-to-season. It's great to encourage people to post descriptions, pictures, etc. but those things are much better and more meaningful if they're also accompanied by relevant numbers.
Why not just delete posts and/or threaten users with a ban if they get off-topic with a big argument? Banning numbers, statistics, and climate data altogether seems like total overkill... especially since people can still argue pointlessly about weather/climate without supporting data.
