Because the first image is clearly taken in Vancouver. You can see the thermometer against the city with familiar buildings. The second is probable, given that the poster is trying to post a new updated number from a different thermometer.

Anyways, so it's purely subjective. Tight ship we're running here. What a silly little thread. Don't post numbers BUT you can take a picture of numbers so long as deemed appropriate. I mean the thermometer on my patio goes up to 48 C when the sun hits it, and is likely flawed in others ways, but a picture of that is clearly superior to an official number, right?

How would the official number be superior to the reports of whatever someone is experiencing when it comes to conversations? That is, other than holding a horse race with the thermometer.

No surprise where all the no effort low quality posts are coming from into this thread (hint: it is from mainly the immature posters who caused the rule change in the first place). Mods should probably play a more active role in removing some of the verbal diarrhea in this thread.

They would be better because terms like hot, warm, cool, cold, etc. are totally subjective and can vary wildly from person-to-person, location-to-location, and season-to-season. It's great to encourage people to post descriptions, pictures, etc. but those things are much better and more meaningful if they're also accompanied by relevant numbers.

Why not just delete posts and/or threaten users with a ban if they get off-topic with a big argument? Banning numbers, statistics, and climate data altogether seems like total overkill... especially since people can still argue pointlessly about weather/climate without supporting data.

It's rhymes with girty-done and is humid. Cooler weather early in the week, September like. Then back to seasonal for next weekend.

Another hot one today in Vancouver. Not very high humidity, though. Which means no thunderstorms. My husband is from New York and he says he misses the big thunderstorms they would have.

It was warm but the breeze could sap all illusions of it. Likeliness of rain is low, what with the declining dampness of the air. I wore a coat today but you could be torn to put it on or take it off.

I was a nice rainy day today. I say a few tree were the leaves were changing. It's sucks that here in Northern Ontario you only get about 3 months of leaves on the trees before they start to change colour.

It's cloudy in downtown Vancouver!

Which means it's not hot. And the flat even light makes photography a little easier. And it's not so miserable on an overcrowded bus. And I can cook a hot supper. And life is a little easier.

It was warm and not deceptive. I wore a jacket because I was expecting to come home late but the evening kept being warm. Clouds were present but never threatened to gather and form any rain of any kind.
