"Another big project is under preparation in downtown Moncton. Valmond Robichaud account start building a 10-story building on Main Street, next summer.
At the intersection of Main and Harper, at the entrance of downtown Moncton, just alongside the Staples store, workers are busy with heavy equipment.
It is not even the beginning of construction, Robichaud merely leases its land to local entrepreneurs.
Next summer, however, the owner of Harper Building plans to begin construction on the land of a new apartment building that will also include retail space.
"Yes, I'm building, but I want to wait until the construction of the center of the complex is more advanced. I would expect that the center generates more excitement and people start talking about it. This is a big project, it's 10 floors, "said the entrepreneur Acadie Nouvelle.
The architects are currently working on the concept of the future building. The first two floors will be dedicated underground parking. The first level is dedicated to retail and the remaining seven will be apartments or, perhaps, condominiums.
"I have to be sure of my shot. I know this is a good place. I have apartments in the city and a nursing home and they are always rented. In the city center, on Main Street, I should have no problem. "
"It is a big investment and it will be almost a monument. When thou goest in Moncton, this will be the first building that you will see and when and when thou goest in Dieppe, this will be the first building that you'll see. It will be quite important. It will be a beautiful design, "Robichaud said.
The contractor originally from Saint-Louis-de-Kent has worked most of his life in the United States. He decided to return to the region to begin his retirement.
"I had 125 men working for me in the United States. I decided it was too much. I wanted to start a semi-retirement. I came back here and I work more than before, "he joked.
Far from retiring, the businessman now realizes that the Greater Moncton offers several occasions to entrepreneurs or those who want to become.
"When I went to the US, I thought it was the land of opportunity (land of opportunity). I was wrong. This land of opportunities here. People need to wake up. There is mass of things to do here. I have opportunities every day and I can not do them all, "Robichaud built in 1996 the Manoir Notre Dame on Murphy Avenue, Moncton and recently a four-story apartment building in downtown on Dominion Street, along the Vaughan Harvey boulevard."
