Agreed! Planting, more and better lighting, interestingly designed paving, awnings, public art, nice stonework to cover up the stark concrete, ..... a lot is needed here to make it "stick" !!

They really destroyed any chance this alley had of becoming something more than backalley by not including more retail frontage. There's just no reason for pedestrians to use it as is. It's so cold and empty.

Not enough CRUs to make this alleyway lively. Pretty drab and gray IMO. Without any interesting features on the walls, so much more could be done to the paving to make it attractive. Tractor should at least have a doorway further into the alleyway.

The building on the left will have a green wall/living wall. This is confirmed because there's a budget within the strata to maintain this wall when it goes up. from what I've heard, it's supposed to cover a good 50% of the building laterally and 2-3 floors high.

I think the 46 storey seafoam slab within several meters will put a real damper on the living wall being successful without sufficient artificial lighting.

that alley wall of the original W.F. building is seriously in need of a face-lift where-ever the green wall won't be covering.

I've seen numerous pictures of alleys in Melbourne Australia. Could those not provide any inspirational ideas?

I had hoped that Westbank's & Henriquez's experience creating interesting alley-like spaces in Woodswards (beside the JJ Bean) would have translated into a more promising space. I get why they didn't use concrete pavers, damage from heavy vehicles like garbage trucks, but cool paving could have really helped the space.

The office tower gets A+ from me but the residential tower is a D-.
