I believe this rendering is the one before the most recent one. The roof box is more conventional on the new render, in fact, the whole building is more conventional and less interesting then the one before. However, I think the newer version is more sleek looking, and cooler. I like the changes.

I liked the faint tint of green glass before. Now I hate it because it is typical generic blue glass...

That's all Austin ever seems to get, blue glass towers. They look so generic because there's so many of them all in the same color, albeit sometimes in different shades of the blue color. But blue is still blue. I hate how repetitive and monotonous the color has become to the ATX skyline IMO

This skyscraper and the Independent have been the only skyscrapers in ATX that I've been excited about and now I can't even be excited for this. I was looking forward to the clean slight green shade of glass this tower had, IMO it was stunning. Now its mediocre and generic

The site plan page 3(1) was changed too (more clear page 24(1). The elevator core, mail room, trash recycling and one less elevator facing Rainey St probably for the bar on the second floor and the retail parking.

I'm lovin' it, and this rendering is my favorite. But I've alway got a problem of getting caught up in the quality of the illustration rather than seeing the reality of what the building will look like. Still, I don't get the complaints about this one. Looks anything but generic to me. Generic = all the new mid-rise hotel boxes going up in various shades of puke. I'd really need for someone to explain to me why they object to this. Even if I try to find fault with it, I just end up liking it more.

I tend to agree, however it would have been nice if they had kept the glass color green. I've always said that Austin is in need of more green towers and glass facade to represent our greenery. We have blue representing water and sky, grey for clouds, lots of browns, tans and limestone to represent the hills and dirt. Now we need green and not just a light hint of green, but a nice medium or deep green.

I'd be fine with a few light hints and a medium shade, but not dark green glass. That's gross.

If the glass is anywhere near as reflective as the rendering shows, I would be pleased. At that point, it's less of a blue or green issue and more of a reflection of everything around it...spring/summer colors, sunsets, etc.

...but then you also have the possibility of it reflecting the blue of the other buildings downtown....

SkyHouse nearby is almost the exact same color and is very reflective. It's one of the most reflective buildings we have, that and the Chase Bank Tower. They're like mirrors. Watch the sunset sometime along the Congress Avenue bridge. The building reflects it perfectly.

It looks like its going to be simular to the Fairont's exterior. I think the night time approach from south I35
is going to sparkle, and shine during the day. Now if we can get the stucco on the former Legacy replaced with a glass exterior like the brick to glass replacement on Dobie, BAM!!

I know I'll probably be thrown out the door by collar for this, but I actually like Legacy the way it is. At least, the color. Stucco is ugo, but I don't mind the color.

I also like the look of the Legacy. It took me a while, but the subtle color scheme is OK and the building is nicely proportioned. I hate the attached garage, but that is another story. Not every apartment building needs to be a glass tower.

They have been posting floor plans on their Facebook page since the project was announced. You'll have to scroll through their photos to find them. But it does seem like a major marketing failure to not include more info on their webpage.

Another failed tongue in cheek by me regarding the Legacy. I always liked it from the beginning and thought it added nice height to that area. But what really impressed me about it in all its stucco glory, which I have no problem with, is how blazing fast this thing went up.
So getting back on topic, if 70 is going to be reflective glass as is Skyhouse, we need the sort of contrast that comes from stone, brick and gack, stucco. But I did watch and enjoy the transformation of Dobie, still think it was remarkable and made me courious if it could be done with Legacy, when the stucco starts cracking...aaaaand off topic again.
