This last year, Regina installed a new video board in the Brandt Centre that would put it in 12th in that list. Where would the other non-NHL arenas in Canada fit in? (Granted there would probably be a number of non-NHL arenas in the US that would rank highly?).

Interesting. I've never been to the Brandt Centre. The board does look pretty nice (and big) for a smaller building

Rogers place has the biggest in the NHL when looking at full square footage i thought? I remember reading that

Quote:
It's big. Massive in fact.
The scoreboard at Rogers Place arena measures 46 feet wide, 46 feet deep, and 36 feet high. It weighs 90,000 pounds, the equivalent of 23 Ford F-150 trucks. It will be the largest, true high-definition scoreboard in any National Hockey League arena.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/s...ace-will-be-largest-in-the-nhl-1.3584225

Those charts Sdime posted are full of crap. They are only accounting for the size of 1 screen which in Tampa and Colorado's case is deceiving....for example

Rogers place has 4 screens of 38 by 22 feet so the actual square footage is (836x4=) 3344sq ft. plus the power rings and corner screens which I imagine would put it way above anyone else in the league

Tampa bays is 2 screens of 45.6 x 25.6 and 2 smaller screens of 28x20 so it's actually 2334+1,120= 3454 sq ft where as the picture shown would have you think its 9336 sq ft

I think there is some confusion between total scoreboard and just the biggest screen. It looks like the graphic above refers to the latter.

Brandt Centre at 209 sq ft would be 25th in the NHL.

Yeah If youre looking at just main screens vs main screen Edmonton is behind Tampa and Colorado by about 100sq ft. But keep in mind Edmonton has corner screens and separate rings for statics. If you are looking from an actual size vs size of the full jumbotron itself then Edmonton takes it hands down

Really surprised anyone is throwing any more money at canadian tire centre. But this is only good for the sens. Less seats is more in ottawa when your playing in the 3rd biggest building in the league

Considering the Sens are probably going to be in there for at least the next few years (probably longer), I suppose it makes sense to spend some money on improvements.

Wow. In a couple years Edmonton will have, along with Vegas and MSG, the best rinks in the league.

That's a pretty nice arena. It must be exciting for fans.

Crazy to think that handover is Sept 2, grand opening Sept 8th and its first event Sept 16th with first hockey Sept 20th.

Not only will they be there for another 5-10 years, but this is also a good opportunity to test different concepts to come up with the best design and business plan for the new arena.

Could be a nice football weekend activity... Labour Day Classic and all that entails + check out the new stadium:

Quote:
Sneak Another Peek inside new Mosaic Stadium on September 3

The City of Regina is pleased to announce a second Stadium Project ‘Sneak Peek’ opportunity at new Mosaic Stadium will take place on Saturday, September 3 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Admission to ‘Sneak Peek 2.0’ is free, however non-perishable food items and cash donations to benefit the Regina Food Bank are encouraged.

‘Sneak Peek 2.0’ will include an opportunity for the public to access both the east and northeast concourse of the stadium, take special photos and learn more about the multi-purpose facility.

“The photos and videos of our new stadium look great, but this iconic community gathering place is truly spectacular in person,” commented Mayor Michael Fougere. “Our first sneak peek last fall was an overwhelming success and we anticipate a big crowd again as we get closer to completion of the first phase of the Regina Revitalization Initiative.”

In addition to photo opportunities along the concourse, video stations and a thank you banner for the project contractor PCL and their employees will be available to be signed.

To accommodate the ‘sneak peek’, the portion of Elphinstone Street adjacent to the stadium site, as well as a portion of 10th Avenue will be closed to vehicles from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Regina Revitalization
--------------------

The Regina Pats are also preparing a bid to host the Memorial Cup in the 2018, which would require some improvements/upgrades at the Brandt Centre right beside the new stadium, some excerpts from an article:

Quote:
Regina Pats make bid to host 2018 Memorial Cup

The Regina Pats are making a bid to host the 2018 Memorial Cup.

It will be the 100th anniversary of the junior hockey championship, as well as the Pats centennial season in 2017-18.
...
The size of the Brandt Centre, home of the Pats, could be an issue as it only seats 6,484.

"There's no question we can secure temporary seating if required in the west concourse, so we believe that can occur in a fairly short order, " added Marquart.

Marquart said the size of the facility and any additional requirements needed to improve any areas is a large undertaking and will need to be addressed.

Vegas has a nice arena but I really wouldn't put it in the same class as Edmonton, Rogers place is in a class of it's own, nor would I set T-mobile apart from Console energy center or barclays, It's got a flashy exterior lighting system that could be added to any arena in the NHL today. MSG is beautiful and it is an impressive reno but really it just now has everything that everyone else in the league has. If you take the fact that it's Madison square garden away and put that same arena anywhere else it's way less impressive. (IMO)
