Anybody here an employee or student at GT or live near the Westside Provisions District with a decent camera? As NCR, Modera Midtown, Post Millennium, Apogee, and AMLI Arts Center's developments become more visible, it would be nice to see pic updates from on top of the CULC or rooftops from the westside.

Here's a previously proposed project at the same location. Not sure if it's the same project, as it's been almost a decade. Located at northeast of Cumberland parkway and paces walk.

That's actually southeast

For the uninitiated, this is not in Cumberland where the stadium is. It's west of "downtown" Vinings (near the Home Depot).

turns out that road loops around in a backwards C. I only saw it below the site. Either way, good for Vinings? This is a congested area with little transit relief planned even in the long term. 285 along this stretch is a mess.

A planning permit was filed for a new multi-family development in O4W on Boulevard near Rankin. Looks like it's just north of the new "city lights" senior apartments, unless this permit is for that development as well.

Doubt it...that's completed right? I still don't understand what lot it is...also can someone who has a bizjournals subscription tell me the important facts in this article?

http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2016/08/11/jobs-driving-strong-metro-atlanta-growth.html

Curious how much they saw city of Atlanta grow by. Growth went from 60,000 a year to nearly 70,000 a year for the 10 core county area so the we should see census estimates of at least 105,000 from July 2015 to July 2016.

Average Growth per year from 2010-2016 for CoA was 3,266;
But for 2015-2016 growth for CoA was 7,900, more than half of Fulton's growth of 15,300

Bigger counties had:

Dekalb 6,600
Cherokee 6,800
CoA 7,900
Cobb 9,900
Fulton 15,300
Gwinnett 17,300

https://magic.piktochart.com/output/7288313-august-2015-snapshot

From the infographic, Atlanta almost doubled its growth from 2014-2015

This is great news. This information just validates the need for all of the residential construction we see going on in the CoA. The ARC is traditionally conservative so I can definitely believe that these numbers are valid. This also clearly shows that the Atlanta region weathered the recession well.

The census bureau says the City of Atlanta has nearly 460,000 people-- the metro 5.7M and CSA 6.4M to be exact-- ARC's numbers are only for their 10 county area...

I still believe they're being conservative with the city of Atlanta's growth. Last annual census estimate had Atlanta grow by about 8k between July 2014 to July 2015, while ARC only had 4.8k growth from April 2014 to April 2015.

When about 6k-7k apartment units are being completed each year with rapid occupancy in the new apartment blocks, that's about 7k-9k growth annually from apartments alone. You still have to consider townhomes and single family homes that are either being built and filled or older ones being filled as areas continue to gentrify. True, the south/west sides may be emptying out, but I feel like that's kind of stopped.

I think the census has been more accurate, but then again, they also thought Atlanta grew by over 100k people between 2000-2010, then come to find out it only grew by 4k so maybe ARC is right to be conservative.

Understood...but even when you segregate the numbers for the counties and cities covered by the Census and the ARC, the ARC is usually more conservative than the Census.

Agreed!! Looks great! I'd love to see more of these type of modern towers sprout up around Downtown. It would provide a nice contrast to the older buildings in the area. I'm assuming this is the Square on 5th-ish tower for Downtown, correct?

This new proposal is across the street from the nearly-finished 1100-bed GSU dorm/dining hall. The new proposal would be where the bike racks are in the rendering.

In perimeter I noticed two new cranes, anybody know what for?

1 is over by the hospitals on Pill Hill, typical crane fixed to the ground

the other is further south down the road from the State Farm campus, and looks like a crane for pre construction site work and not one that is fixed to the ground

27 floors, am I viewing it correctly? Great addition to downtown and will likely cause more foot-traffic over on Edgewood as well.

2425 Peachtree filed both a land disturbance permit and a building/arborist review this week.
"Erect 17 story high-rise multi family apartment building with 262 units, 272,688 sq ft, and 6,361 sq ft of retail on 1st floor."
Currently on the site is a Burger King drive-through.

Article says 26, so 1 floor more than the Tech Square one.

Quote:
Called “120 Piedmont,” the project will offer 650 beds of off-campus housing, arranged in 228 units with one to four bedrooms. The building will include 6,400 square feet of retail, anchored by an existing gas station that will be redesigned.

That ufo looking thing is a gas station

Quote:
The project is expected to break ground at end of this year. The hope is to complete it for the 2018 school year.
Quote:
The tower would offer its residents an upscale stay, with a seventh-floor amenity deck and pool overlooking the Georgia State campus. There also will be a 3,000-square-foot sky-lounge and rooftop terrace on the 26th floor.
