^ Most places looks flat from 5,000-10,000 feet in the air.

That said, aside from the valley and ravines, Edmonton is pretty flat. Makes biking easier.

Edmonton will have defiantly taken the next great step forward with the completion of the ice district.

The buildings stick out from the flat land very vertically...

Every Canadian city looks incredibly flat to me. Besides White Rock.

The city of White Rock is quite flat as compared to Calgary which has right around 1,000 feet between it's lowest and highest points. Cycling in many parts of Calgary can be quite challenging as there's a lot of hills/inclines.

^ Very nice Edmonton photos. Can't wait to see all the construction done. As to the flat comment, yes it's not Rio de Janeiro, but Edmonton is actually a city built around ravines and dramatic river banks. There are parts of the river valley (I go there daily) that almost feel like you're in Jasper National Park.

Give me a break. You've obviously never been to White Rock or have any idea what its hills are like. It's like San Francisco. Comparing elevation over total area is pointless considering how small it is. If Calgary was as steep you'd never be able to go anywhere in the winter.

It's difficult to get the sense of scale from video but watch this

I would have to surmise that you haven't been around Calgary much either where there are streets that are shut down in the winter and multiple streets that become pretty much impossible to go up or down on when we get enough snow.

I don't doubt that White Rock has steep roads but one shouldn't dismiss Calgary as some flat prairie city - the steepest paved alley sits at 31.5 degrees inclination and the steepest street is at about 22. There is a street much steeper, probably closer to 30 but the city baricaded many years ago because there was just too many problems with having it open.
