Whats the estimated completion. Im hoping all these Metrotown developments mean for more rental units in the area. Currently its hard to find some in the newer builds I'd say.

When they started work on Station Square they were saying completion between 2018 - 2020. At the pace they've been moving I'd say 2018 is more likely.

There are rentals in the new tower, but prices are surprisingly high. But I do agree with your sentiment that more rental would be great as tenant really live in the units. Owners... Not always.

I'm surprised Boston Pizza didn't just wait it out and grab a new spot along the new "restaurant row". Could of gotten a nice patio, the new location is so dark and hidden.

For all we know this is a temporary location as they didn't want to be closed (and so not earning any money) for a few years.

Also it's not so terrible a location for anyone coming from the Skytrain, bus loop or the towers on Beresford.

The whole retail entrance configuration is awful because of the retrofit. Too many secondary walls / floors and short escalators.

...confirmed several new Structube locations. Three Vancouver-area stores are confirmed to be opening this year, including locations at 140 West Hastings Street in Gastown (opening later this month), at Station Square in Burnaby (opening in early September) as well as on the tony South Granville strip at 2401 Granville Street (opening mid October).

The site plan (pdf) doesn't list it - it has two Starbucks instead. The restaurant row section lists Cactus Club and Earls. That should open up those Kingsway sites for redevelopment sooner rather than later.

If I'm not mistaken the top of the podium will be holding trees, grass lawns etc..
