It's a nice design but Manulife in Edmonton is one of the nicest looking buildings in the country although its only 144 meters. https://www.google.ca/search?q=pics+of+m...SPFOa26AT1trT4Bw#imgrc=bL7UaxV7HveyWM%3A

One Bloor - 258 meters

The best part about walking south on Yonge Street (no, not getting your junk yanked on my some old Chinese/Russian ladies), is when you get past Gerrard and the sidewalk goes from crowded to insane!

I seem to recall someone criticizing the cladding at 10 York a few days ago, but I'm not sure I see the problem.

^ The tower portion. Podium isn't too bad.

Yes, I was criticizing the tower portion, for obvious reasons (i.e. typical Tridel crap cladding) - the podium cladding is fine.

There's nothing about Ten York's cladding that makes it worse than the rest of the crap cladding being used throughout Toronto. So far, it's an upgrade from the typical Tridel, LEED garbage, build.

I like the concrete jungle vibe you get on this stretch of yonge. Sprinkling trees on every street is really overrated in my opinion. People always go on about that. There are certainly appropriate places but I think in this case it would lessen the appeal.

Trees can be nice, but the sidewalks simply aren't wide enough to accommodate them based on the level of pedestrian traffic on this stretch of Yonge.

Yeah, Yonge doesn't need tress right now. Maybe once all the bland podiums are built.

Apologies Calgary and Vancouver.

Tallest building west of Toronto reaches construction milestone for Edmonton's Stantec

A 66-storey building set to make Edmonton’s skyline the highest in Western Canada reached a construction milestone Thursday.

“This is a massive gesture of confidence on the part of Edmontonians to have the audacity to build a building like this,” Mayor Don Iveson said while on site to celebrate the last concrete pour to complete the foundation.
He added that investments in both private and public infrastructure have helped the city weather the provincial economic downturn.
While Stantec is the main tenant, the $500-million skyscraper will also include condo units, retail outlets and office space, including two floors for PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Stantec CEO Bob Gomes said a significant number of employees — 1,700 — will be relocated to Stantec Tower, which will be its new world headquarters.
“From this point onward, we’ll see it move upward,” he said.
The retail space will be ready by mid-2018, while the offices are set to open in 2018. The residential portion is slated to open in fall 2019.
Tower quickfacts:

• The Stantec Tower will be the tallest building in Canada outside of Toronto. It will have one million square feet of space and will stand 250 metres.
• It’s designed to be LEED gold certified and will include office, retail and residential space. This includes 28 floors of offices and approximately 481 residential units.
• PricewaterhouseCoopers plans to move there from the TD Tower in December 2018.
• Stantec is planning to occupy 19 floors of the building. The building will also be home to Dentons Canada LLP.
