New Tommy Hillfiger store opens today
https://www.telegraphjournal.com/telegraph-journal/story/47936147/?nopromo=1

Also mentioned is what's being built beside Sleep country
Quote:
We are currently building an additional 7,000 square foot building adjacent to Sleep Country that will accommodate Thaizone and CitiFinancial,” he said in an email. “They are expected to open in late 2016 or very early 2017.”

CitiFinancial - now that's exciting........

I wonder if this is a new location or if they are planning on moving out of the Landing on the Bend? A second location is certainly possible - there is a strong tendency in Moncton to have separate locations for many businesses on both the west side of town and in the east (Dieppe).

Regardless, the Mapleton Centre continues to slowly fill in. With this new addition, there will be 23 businesses in the centre, with only two vacant pads and two empty units left. That's over an 85% occupancy which isn't too bad at all.

New owner purchased all the equipment and is combining both locations into 1 single new facility on Albert St while offering additional services and apparently free personal training and diet programs to all members.

My co-worker just got notified that they have since changed their minds and are reopening the Riverview location (with new equipement), while the Albert Street location will now only open at a later date.

There's something afoot at the old Canadian Tire location on Mountain Road. There are workers on site as well as a few dumpsters. I wonder if the U-Haul Store proposal is moving forward?

They've been picking away at it for a bit. I haven't heard anything else, so my bet is the UHaul.

Just heard an interesting rumour from a fairly reliable source that the dealerships that Rallye will be including in this auto mall will be:

- Hyundai (pre-existing)
- Chrysler/Jeep (relocation)
- Mitsubishi (relocation)
- Infiniti (new to market)

Rallye Nissan supposedly will be staying put in their current location on Main Street West (although, since Infiniti is the upscale brand for Nissan, one would think they might want to locate these two dealerships side by side - we'll see).

Infiniti would be a great addition to the city. I believe that the dealership they are working on right now will be the new location for Rallye Chrysler/Jeep. I imagine Mitsubishi will follow in short order with Infiniti in the next two years or so. Looking at the site plan, my guess is that Building "2" will be the new Infiniti dealership. It's the smallest of the three new dealerships to be built and has the best visibility from the highway (something a higher end dealership might demand).

I also heard that there might be some delay in the construction of the relocated (competing) Moncton Chrysler/Dodge dealership next to the Hampton Inn bordering on the TCH. The ownership of that dealership is not local, and apparently they feel they have more pressing priorities elsewhere. This is too bad since the current dealership on Mountain Road is quite cramped for space and is one of the higher volume dealerships in Canada.

When I spoke with my salesperson in April, she told us that the original plan was for construction to start this summer but that it was delayed until next summer, for the same reason you state, the company was building another dealership this year.

Thanks Erick. No, this fact was not previously known.

It's not a surprise though. Urban Kids belongs to the same stable as Urban Planet/Suzy/West 49 and Blue Notes, all of which already exist at Champlain Place.

The store design looks interesting:

I wonder which space in the mall they will take over? Do you have any idea when they plan to open?

It's not in the leasing plan yet. My guess is as close to urban planet as possible though.

Also, does anyone know when work is supposed to begin on the new Swiss Chalet in Dieppe, it appears there is a delay, the site has basically reminded the same for a couple of months.

I'm not 100% certain on this but the only unit that is considered to be vacant (atm) is the one between Bikini Village & The Body Shop near the food court. Not sure if that would be large enough if not they might get someone to move there to get Urban Kids closer to Urban Planet.

This job advert serves as confirmation that Urban Kids is indeed opening a new store in Champlain Place:

There is a couple spaces down by Sobeys. No word on Jump+ potentially moving to create a bigger leasable area. Anyone know how big Urban Kids usually are?

Tommy Hilfiger store is finally closed, and fully emptied out from what was visible. Now there only waiting for the temporary Bentley's store to close to start reno's from what I was told.
