I can see toiles for blinds. Not really for curtaiins where rideaux is really the word.

St. Clare's Hospital, a few blocks outside of downtown, has a cheap-yet-permanent, often-empty message board along half its length.

"This happens all too frequently," says cyclist Bashir Mohamed of hate incident caught on tape

Quote:
"This happens all too frequently," says cyclist Bashir Mohamed, whose video of an altercation on a downtown street is going viral in Edmonton.
"No one will believe me unless I have the camera out."
On Friday, Mohamed pulled out his camera this time and the footage is disturbing.

Stupid question: Is calling someone the n-word as an insult a criminal offence? It's obviously beneath contempt, but what would the offence be in terms of the law?

I see wheels like that many times per day, nearly always on cars; the most frequent offender would be the last two generation of GM fullsizes (B-body), of which you have an example below, and also the GM G-bodies (Monte Carlo, Regal, Cutlass...) and sometimes the fullsize Fords too.

Also, the driver's always going to be a young-ish black male, no question about that.

BTW, what's with how specific that no parking sign is in that Hummer pic? No parking, July 29th 19:00 to Aug 2nd 05:00. That sign's there year round? And your pic was taken exactly during the yearly no parking period... that driver is lucky you weren't a cop, I have a feeling he'd have gotten two tickets (parking and taste offense)

I didn't even notice it last night but I know why it was there. They closed down the main drag of 17th ave for a block for construction and you have to take a detour down the side street. That dumbass with no dick was completely blocking all the traffic from getting through as the side street can't really accommodate traffic going both directions at the same time. An accordion bus was stuck at one point as we were going the opposite direction through the light. Must have taken a while to get through.

Funny thing was I saw that dumbass earlier in the evening driving by me but didn't get a chance to snap a pic. Then I see him again later parked in the one area he could be the biggest pain in the ass.

In truly ugly news, Donald Trump equated losing a son with spending long nights at the office for monetary reward.

My fucking god, and this scumbag could become President????

One is beyond being surprised anymore by anything that comes out of his mouth (and which his supporters seem to thrive on, which is at least equally frightening). Meanwhile Mrs. Khan has written an eloquent and touching response, published in the Washington Post.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/...le-main_op-khan-951am%3Ahomepage%2Fstory

Sadly, in the USA's hyper-polarized politics, millions of Trump supporters will continue to see the grieving mother, rather than the extreme narcissist, as the problem.

I remember the old Tex Park parking garage that used to be there. It was even uglier than the vacant lot is. What you see now is a definite improvement........

At this point I question if there is anything he could say that would actually turn off his apeshit supporters. They seem to revel in the Jerry Springer level circus of Trump and all his offensive commentary. My only hope is that he will do something truly stupid and disqualify himself by revealing details of his briefing by the CIA as a nominee or something. I have a feeling there's still more to come and I only hope he hangs himself with the rope he's given.

The city really screwed up with this one. They sold the lot to a developer and included a buy-back agreement but it was so poorly designed that lawyers later advised city councillors not to even try to exercise it.

The developer claims to be working on a new proposal for the site. The last one was for a pair of 48-storey towers that broke just about every planning rule in place for the area.

The old TexPark was a bit unusual in that it had a gas station in it (that boarded-up lower level). Originally it was developed by Texaco and by the 90's it was operated by Ultramar. You don't really see things like that anymore. Most of the gas stations in Canadian urban cores are disappearing.

There also used to be a 1920's-style gas and service station near Sackville Street and Dresden Row. Some people wanted it to be designated as a heritage site.
