Re: the Dome, people also thought the dome itself was a dumb idea given Atlanta's climate. Southerners prefer to be spectators in an outdoor arena.

Include me out! I'll take the AC any day of the week.

On another note, I am pleased to see that 10 Park Place is getting some saviors. It's a lovely human scaled building and a real historic jewel.

Hey man chill out, all I am saying is yes I know they had trouble with the crane. But this was a year ago, it should be way ahead of what it is now.

22 14th is flying compared to Modera Midtown.

I think it's great! One step closer to finishing. Then we can see the sidewalks reopen (not to mention a portion of 13th St for this particular project), new retail, and several new residents that will add vibrancy to the Midtown streets. It's really amazing how many more people you see walking around Midtown compared to just a couple of years ago.

Maybe the fact that the podium is wrapped with apartment units complicates the construction.

In addition to Modera, I find Hanover's project, while often decried by others, I think is a fantastic addition to the area.
Just don't over throw the tennis balls or fido and pals will be flying over the edge and splattering on the sidewalks

Yeah the Hanover Midtown project is the other one that has taken a loooooong time to get out of the ground. The others didn't really start until early this year right? I remember Post was just fenced off for a few months without any action and Amli just broke ground in January. Anyway...I guess it always feels like a long time before they start gaining any height, and each project moves at its own pace due to differences in design and quality - and if there anything under ground it always takes longer.

Yeah, stuff like that affects the construction time.

Wow that's a beautiful building...I can't even say that I've ever fully noticed it before, maybe because it fits in so well with the surroundings. These are the buildings that give Atlanta some historic character.

This southerner prefers the AC too. An open arena is nice when the weather is perfect, but in August it's nice to be inside.

Notice that you can open the windows.

Years ago we had an office there for a while and it was so nice to open your window on a nice fall afternoon and listen to the sounds of the city.

That's really nice...makes me think it would be a great residential conversion. It's weird how they knew in 1929 to put retail on the first floor in an urban environment. We really got away from that for a couple of decades.

I mean they didn't have much of a choice back then. They built cities way better back then than they do now.

The retail they had in the building was totally practical -- a deli, a dry cleaner (who would mend and press your suit while you waited), a newstand, a barbershop and a travel agency. Those were pre-internet days when travel agencies provided an essential service. It was very pleasant and efficient.

A permit was filed for build-out of retail tenant McCray's Tavern in Atlantic House Development (which is a local Taco mac type place currently only in Lawrenceville and Smyrna)

Also a rezoning was submitted for 266 Oxford Place NE which is near Lake Claire/Dekalb Avenue. To rezone from C-1 to MR-3.
Transfer of development rights was also submitted for the Beltline Property fronting Dekalb Avenue near the krog tunnel (the one where the building is expected to cantilever over the transit route)
SAP/SPI permit filed for the Condo Building from Loudermilk at Peachtree/Roswell/East Paces.
Lot Consolidation filed for 3 properties right at the Oakland Marta Station. (1374 Murphy Avenue SW)

So...I thought people were saying 880 West Peachtree was supposed to be starting soon? There's been absolutely no activity on that site as of yet.

Also, does anyone know whatever happened to the Beltline Hotel near Krog Street? Did they ever apply for permits?
