An all glass wall. But, thankfully, The Fairmont is not as wide as the Grand Hyatt.

Seems like it might look interesting. Look forward to seeing a color rendering if they have one.

Site plan for 908 Nueces Street. This is a 5-story condo project at West 10th & Nueces.

It looks like Facebook is expanding it's current office space:
austin.curbed.com/2016/7/6/12106686/facebook-austin-office-expansion

This would seem to quash any of the rumors of them moving into a new building.

This is well under construction, with the framing for all four floors done. Called the The Celia Condos.

The most recent rumor is they are expanding their current office AND they are opening a 2nd location in The Domain.

Interesting they're expanding to include floors 9-12 of 300 W. 6th. Cirrus Logic is on floors 13 and 14, but I assume they'll be moving out once Shoal Creek Walk is built. I wonder if FB would want that space as well which would bump them up from 4 to 6 floors.

More details. Looks like a cafeteria will be part of the expansion:

Wow. This has to motivate developers to pursue new and bigger office highrises

Especially when companies like Google, Atlassian, and now Indeed are quick to snap up space in new buildings:

And yet, instead of a signature 700 to 800 ft office tower being built, we'll probably continue to see 20 to 30 story sub towers pop up here and there. I hope I'm wrong. But one thing to consider is the 20 to 30 story office buildings that have this awesome occupancy are really much smaller if you take away the parking floors beneath the usable office space.

Texas Legislature Embarks on $445 Million HHSC Expansion

http://www.virtualbx.com/construction-pr...barks-on-445-million-hhsc-expansion.html

So much for rail on Guadalupe/Lamar (both because this precludes acquiring that strip of land for such, and probably precludes taking lanes from Lamar with all those additional parking spots).

Not only that, but with that big parking lot at 51st and Lamar gone the AACA will need to find a new location for their annual Father's Day car show. I always liked that central location. Plus there was plenty of parking for spectators.

Well look at that. That's my fantasy parking lot! Love it! Though boo for closing off rail options on that corridor.

Well, not really closed, but it certainly constrains that corridor more than it was before (between the new buildings shown on the map and the existing Triangle).

No. It actually increases likelihood of rail on this corridor because it is guaranteed ridership demand at a place that is a guaranteed stop. I.E. it boosts the political capital given by higher anticipated ridership. The particularities of how it is built come later, because it can still fit in this corridor easily.

I have to agree. This is more a benefit to a future rail investment than a hindrance. The additional ridership potential far outweighs the challenge to available ROW. The Guadalupe ROW is fairly wide, and there are two of them. The northbound and center turn lanes could be used for the trackway and station within the existing curb lines by rerouting the northbound lanes to Old Guadalupe between the complex and the Intramural Fields. A roundabout at Guadalupe and 51st would ensure it would be nothing more than a minor inconvenience to traffic. A second roundabout at the tip of the triangle, where Guadalupe and Lamar merge, might even improve the tangled mess that exists today. The signal at Lamar and 51st would need to stay to allow the rail to transition from center to side running and to allow traffic to cross the tracks.

But people don't ride transit when there's abundant free parking. This has been shown over and over, the #1 indicator for transit usage is parking.

And they're adding way to much free parking here.

Edit: for choice riders

You're more optimistic than I am. Perhaps, but that just seems awfully heavy traffic volumes for (American) drivers to use a roundabout.

Edit: Anyway, anything further should probably be on the Transportation thread. It's fuzzy, any update has a transportation component to discuss.
