Much discussion on 6 floor builds in Winnipeg in the last day..

Such a differnet discussion for units at SkyCity, never leave the building and do it all here..lol

Your suite will be your private sanctuary & the amenity floors your playground.

https://twitter.com/SkyCityWinnipeg

Look at this render, your personal play ground, starting on the 8th floor of the podium..

imagine a crane at 300 main

a crane at sky city lot

2 cranes at true north square

and a crane at d condos all at the same damn timeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I think they may take one down once they finish the podium. The tower doesn't stretch far enough towards the river to warrant two for the entire build.

If accurate, they seem to be on the timetable they were aiming for, Sometime in the new year..

I cannot wait until digging begins, and of course seeing this tower rise.

Is 50% sales really the key to this project securing financing and starting construction?

I suppose it's not that implausible, though... Glasshouse is almost finished and when I walked by the sales centre recently I'm pretty sure the sign out front said "60% sold".

^^it's great GH got built at whatever sales level they were at pre-build. I also believe sales will spike once it is open and functional when people can actually go in to touch, feel and see the place.

I agree. I think a lot of people are skittish (justifiably so) when it comes to buying in the pre-build stage.

I do not blame people given the area; the Marlborough alone brings so much trash to the area. I hope the building sells out sooner.

Yes, totally agree with that. When someone can come in and buy a specific unit. Where they can see the space, the view. Whatever it is. Much easier to put cash down on that. Then waiting for many years potentially.

I think the fact that they put so much money into advertisements buying the land building the office tells you that thier serious and this project is a go..... You don't waste millions of dollars on something that they don't intend on building... People in this city don't seem to fathom the magnitude of projects such as this 300 main and true north these will truly be catalyst for so much growth and change downtown... If True north square goes as planned ppl are going to be lining up to get a piece of downtown. I predict once those projects are built and the winnipeg jets are making playoff run there's going to be a new sense of pride surrounding it's citizens ppl are going to to want to live here... We will never have a skyline like Toronto.. But in a few years there will be more huge towers proposed for our downtown and city will never have that same negative rep it had before its going to be the place to be

I believe SkyCity will be built.

But the way this company does business, they skim their fees right up front. So no matter what happens with the build, they've already made millions. This is their shtick. It's been proven many times in Ontario already. Many projects they've done this way and many have not got off the ground. They've been sued, they've been charged, they've been convicted in court. Plain and simple. That's why everyone is very hesitant, especially with this one. If it doesn't go ahead, they'll sell the land and try to re-coup their investment. Which may be hard as they paid $9M for the land. Has been noted that quite high. Especially since the Medical Arts building sold for less than that IIRC.

Remember the previous thread that was deleted and this new one started?

Downtown needs more businesses, thus more people working downtown. Arts & culture must be a focus, specialized retail, and of course building more housing. As we discussed before, town homes must be included in housing development, as there is a segment of home buyers not wanting a condo or apartment. Filling up the spaces by H20 with town houses would be wise, making it a stately district with brownstones.

I, too, believe SkyCity will become a reality soon.

Regardless of design. I rather liked that 300 Assinniboine included the townhouse portion. Even if it is a small amount of people. Gives that certain feel to the neighbourhood.

Is this problem ever going to be solvable for Winnipeg? There's so much potential downtown with all the amenities within walking distance but at the same time there are so many social issues in the area that negatively impact how people view our downtown which in turn hinders more individuals from wanting to live in the area.
