Correct, wasn't on display when I was there unfortunately. The actual exhibit spaces weren't as expansive as I'd expected but I guess that makes sense given the stairways and interior design elements take up a lot of space. Highlights for me were the wall of fame / concert artifacts on the top floor and the soundscapes display.

We were there for a couple of hours and that seemed more than enough to cover everything.

Yeah, the building isn't overly large.

A: Changing the name of the listing from National Music Centre to Studio Bell - National Music Centre of Canada to reflect the official name and the fact that most of the marketing and signage will now refer to the building as Studio Bell.
B: Updating the address to the new address as currently the listing shows the old Cantos address and even makes specific reference to it being on the second floor of the building.

Can't wait to check this place out myself one day soon. By the sounds of it, it really will be a tourist venue that Calgary can be proud of and will hold its own on the world stage!

Because it lists the old address, it is now marked as CLOSED on Tripadvisor.

It's an amazing space. Lots to see and do, even for people like myself who have no musical talent.

Pretty steep IMHO. As I said mentioned earlier I would have to drop $64 to take the family. Not likely to happen.

Canmore Museum - $7
Whyte Museum (Banff) - $10
Aerospace Museum - $10
Military Museum - $10
Sports Hall of Fame - $12
Glenbow - $16
NMC - $18
Royal Tyrell - $18
Telus Spark - $19.95

Not exactly in the same category, however to compare...
Calgary Zoo - $24.95
Heritage Park - $26.25
Calaway Park - $37.95

So perhaps $18 is a bit on the higher side - but to me seems near average. The scare away number is likely >$20. I haven't been to too many of these places, but I'd say if you're going to spend ~ 2 hours there, then the admission rates get closer to that mark.

Surprised that the Glenbow charges so much - it has never been a great museum and that price tag is definitely going to turn off families!

I Disagree. It's a pretty good museum and $16.00 isn't a lot really.

Many of those examples cited above have family rates which make it much more palatable. For instance the Tyrell Museum is $46/family and for comparison the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa is $36/family. If the NMC had a family rate I would be tempted to go but they don't, it's adult x 2 plus youth x 2 to get in and I cannot justify that.

Factoring in popcorn and drinks would a night at the movies cost you any less?

Don't worry, the Glenbow will be getting a face lift soon - their RFP for planning, programming and architectural services for the entire building closes next week.

It would be really nice for there to be some CRUs or something that allows more interaction with the street. A fantastic re-skinning could help too, but only partially.
