Yeah because if the project were struggling they would certainly share their struggles while responding to a random email.

Random was the rumor. She did her job.

Things are very clear now.

Now, now. Offering and opinion about a design preference does not constitute bitching or complaining. I mean this is a forum about differing opinions about DTLA design and architecture isn't it? And as far as the tower looking different than most towers going up--doesn't it resemble the tower next to it? Just a smidgen?

Can we just be happy we have two towers about to break ground? Two towers with good street design and like 800 units combined.

The owners of the Watermarke are bizarre. I think that they are cousins of the Chetrit family

Thank you for the blessing, but in case you didn't know, unless you hold a degree in architecture and are licensed by the state of California to practice, you are not an architect. Therefore, I dare say most of us in this forum are armchair architects, and in my opinion are free to give personal opinions about design

I agree, let's just focus on the positives. But let's not jump the gun just get guys. Sure they've sealed off the lots for Mack Urban and Apex but let's not forget what happened to Fig Cental in the previous boom. It was fenced off and nothing happened. While I'm fairly confident that won't happen again let's just play it safe and wait until shovels are in the ground

We are going to have cranes for the rest of the decade. Even if nothing else happens after these I'm content with what we got this cycle. I just hope Hanzen can squeeze through and finally connect all of Fig. Crossing my fingers we will get that double onni project this month. Three groundbreakings in one month would be MAJOR.

I actually like the new style of the Apex II (darker windows), but you are absolutely right.
You could blame somebody for so many things, but not for a different taste.

Apex II looks like Apex one because Sonni Astani purchased a unit in Concerto and blackmailed Holland by saying he would sue them under CEQA unless they set up a $5 million fund for the homeless that Astani would run. (Not to not get sued, all of this is in the publicly recorded meeting in Van Nuys in front of the full planning commission)

Believe what you want but in my mind things will be clear when dirt is moving and steel is in the ground. I'm not a pessimist but I've heard so many similar statements from developers that turned out to be less than truthful. I take both positive and negative statements with a grain of salt. Unless someone has some skin in the game they're just words.

That type of fussing does tend to throw me off since when pure opinion dominates moments in the ongoing existence of this thread, I find myself thereafter visiting dtla & being surprised by how such comments....or criticism....have a way of being less important or relevant when seeing things up close & directly.

Urbanist theories & matters of personal taste have a way of getting lost in the haze when other aspects of dtla, including too many homeless ppl milling about, or overly quiet sidewalks or stores, or too many rundown bldgs & deadening parking lots throughout dt, are coming into full view.

I also visit this thread mainly to see news, scoops or update pics about dt. When it's instead just mostly pure opinion, & a wall of text of that, I do come away disappointed.

By contrast, all the recent news about start of work on apex 2 & major projs preparing to break ground in south pk, or things like black_crow's post about an email from a person involved with the apt devlpt at 5th & olive are what make this thread quite interesting to me, now & during other times when similar updates or photos are posted here.

There is nothing wrong with that. You are correct - Only time will tell.

I've been following you guys for a while and absolutely love this page.
ConstructDTLA and black_crow had good arguments.
They're good because they both care.

In all seriousness, you all have some good points, though some of them don't exactly hold up IMO.

That's why I am here too.

There's nothing personal involved. I am glad about every single user here, glad for every picture and information.
Why should we have the same opinion all the time?

As a matter of fact, Hunter made some good points. (like when he posted the portfolios of sites that are already cancelled) His photo updates are awesome.

But there are also users like Wilcal, you, Mojeda101, Easy, NativeOrange, King Kill Em, Just-In-Cali, Brandon JCX, 202_Cyclist, Resident, eclipse, caligrad, the mods (and all the others) all decent human beings, all with good knowledge, all a bit less extreme than Hunter and I, more grounded, I appreciate that.

If you guys prove me wrong, well... I might be glad. I don't even like 5-OH. I wouldn't have contacted them without Hunter.

You have to push me once in a while. So thanks for that.

I thought this was a nice article for any lurkers like myself who have no clue how downtown's bike sharing system works.

LOL just to quickly clarify my comment on page 91 and then i'll move on to talk about development.

I have ZERO Ill opinions of anyone on here (well maybe one ).

I was merely poking at Hunter because I know he does the same, so I like exchanging a bit of sarcastic banter with the dude, as I've been doing for a while. Judging by his responses I think he gets that I'm being sarcastic most of the time. At the end of the day, a lot of the crap he says, even though we may hate to hear it and admit it, sometimes makes a lot of sense, but its just an opinion, we all have one, doesn't mean we all have to agree, hold hands and sing Kumbaya. For future reference, I apologize if i come off as bitchy and psychotic sometimes but that happens when you work 12 hours in a mental institution and another 8 working with the county trying to tackle the homeless mess

(that is all, carry on )

And as always, wouldn't be fun without a little troubling/bad news, however you want to take it.

Looks like the HMC/Populous plan for the convention center that I think majority of us liked and won the approval of the city, just spiked in price by 1/3 (250+ million) and now seems like the city may or may not be going back to the drawing boards. I hate everybody involved

But I think we all predicted this was going to happen. Especially when the city council started playing around with the idea of handing over everything to a private developer (and one that was not AEG). Maybe that's why AEG "Canceled" their JW expansion tower. I'm saying this because it seems that both stories broke out of city hall on the same day.
