Agreed. Anything will be an improvement over how it looks now.

One can only hope that this will mean the end to that humongous RENT banner they've been hanging from it.

This is so true. Haha. It was a big joke in the industry

The giant 'RENT' sign certainly doesn't add to the appeal.

Wait. So, they're NOT doing a curtain wall or any kind of cladding replacement? They're just... replacing the windows?

Way to go, Templeton Properties. World class stuff, definitely.

I actually wouldn't mind Keith taking his wrecking ball to this ugly monstrosity and have a decent developer come in and re-build a nicer tower that offers a better street front for tenants and community. Lot of potential for that street, which is ruined both by the stupid Sobeys wall and Fenwick's Soviet Triumphalist Brutalist design.

ok so my question is they fix up the exterior with some windows and cladding but what about the awful interior units.

lobby was redone a few years back and is ok but they truly need new flooring, all new kitchen and bathrooms, lighting and most news walls!!

you can dress it up from the out side but I as a "renter" is wanting is a actual nice place to call home or something of half decent style.

I think the intention is to redo the interiors as well.

They have launched their website. The entire development is now known as South Village and the tower will be called The Vuze.

http://www.southvillagehfx.com/

These are marked as early renderings with a note to check back later for updated ones.
Love the palm trees..

Maybe they are going to be fake? Massive plastic/metal trees animated to move their fronds in the wind.

Better than fake metal lighthouses!

But seriously, what was the architect thinking? Insert some women walking buy with fake boobs and a couple of convertible Bentley's and maybe this was originally the plan for a tower on South Beach? Jeez.

The ground level looks like a big improvement, but it would be hard to build something and not improve this area. The design looks incredibly generic to me.

I'm a little worried that there are too many blue/grey boxes going up, and that the city is going to lose a bit of its warmth and character in the future as brick and more colourful wooden buildings make up a smaller share of the building stock downtown.
