And, finally, a few from the Memorial Day parade this morning.

All uniformed personnel present wore our Forget-me-Not instead of a Poppy this year. It's the first time, I believe, such permission has been granted by the Royal Canadian Legion, etc.







Our Blue Puttees, who all this is in memory of.





There's something a little unsettling about the uniforms for Her Majesty's Penitentiary staff (local prison/jail/whatever).

Here are some photos of Canada Day fireworks all around Metro Vancouver. I didn't even leave home, as these are all from our apartment.

First up is New Westminster.







Next is Burnaby where a free concert took place in Central Park. Unfortunately the fireworks themselves were small, but I snatched one nice photo with Vancouver skyline in the background.



Vancouver had two synced fireworks taking place in Coal Harbour and West Vancouver. Both were visible from our place even though we are 15 kilometers away.







You can see how both fireworks have similar colors as they are in sync.

Massive wildfire out of control at Burns Bog in Delta, BC! I can see the flames and crews waterbombing the area all the way from Burnaby. Fire has grown 25x in size in just an hour!

Really cool Newfoundland uniforms and helmets! You guys do this in July instead of November? Here the only military event that involves parades in streets is for the Armistice.

If I happen to be in town on that date, I still like to go see my ex-colleagues (I was an officer for a couple years in a Sherbrooke regiment) show their drill skills. One of my buildings overlooks the downtown cenotaph that's the focal point for the whole parade, so from my balconies I have pretty much the best point of view possible.
