The permit is just for doing infrastructure work initially so who knows

I was wondering the same thing...I'm not sure I ever saw an approved/final rendering. I think the last one that was out looked very preliminary.

[QUOTE=ATLSkyPalaceOwner;7486988]Any updates on 98 14th St lately? I'm living abroad right now and I'm out of the loop on a lot of stuff.

98 14th is still moving forward. We should see something on that soon I should think. As has been mentioned before there have been design changes, but the project is still the biggest thing to hit Atlanta this cycle.

This is one thing that separates us from more mature and picturesque cities; rotten-ass wooden poles with yawning 3rd world wires and transformers hanging on for dear life. Look at almost every photo of the city and there they are. Sentinels from another century we'll never shake loose.
I went back today to look at the site, and I would not be surprised if these power lines are buried. I live in Fairlie Poplar, and there are no above ground lines around my place except the streetcar power. There are no power lines around Museum Tower which sits directly adjacent to the right in the photo, nor anywhere past that south on Centennial. There are no lines along the street at Aloft, which is behind this development. There appears to be an above ground line going from the Aquarium area up toward the Southern Company building, but other than that the above ground lines are only surrounding these empty lots. The lines have already been removed from the back of the Post parcel, but the naked wooden poles remain. I do not know what the plan is, but I am sure someone can tell us. If they remain, they will be the only ones on that block.

I understand the reaction to the above ground lines, but the expense of burying them cannot be easily discounted. Fairlie Poplar is so appealing because it sits on a grid, with the Broadway like Peachtree Street crossing the grid, has buried power lines, has streetcar, bus, and multiple heavy rail stations, and has basically everything you need in a few block radius. Once the Walgreens opens we will really be in business, and if the Underground development happens (and is quality), we will be over the moon.

Yes, I realize they are slowly being buried in Downtown/Midtown n the core areas. But pretty much every other part of the city is a mess with them. Go to DetroitMan's excellent recent ATL photo threads. Virtually every shot has lines in it. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=223729

I know it's expensive, maybe not best use of money, etc... But it bothers me. Next time you are the intersection of any side street of a main drag look up. The lines are so bad, and the wobbly wood-peckered poles and extraneous junk. It just looks terrible.

Rant over - just wish this one thing was more important to others.

And don't even get me started on the weedy sidewalks and trash strewn lots everywhere. Do we even have a sanitation dept. that cleans sidewalks or streets?

Yes, it will probably be announced in the next few days.

July midtown DRC meeting was rumored to be when 98 14th would be unveiled, I thought. That was from a comment from online boards though, so I cannot confirm anything. SLS could be in July as well. Fingers crossed we get more info on a few projects during July.

"As early as July" is what was mentioned https://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/topic/37325-midtown-atlanta-district-developments/?page=41

And I've seen just as bad and much worse in other major cities, so it would be nice it you could stop talking ike it's an Atlanta only problem - we all know it's not. I just looked at the photos in the thread above and it's a large exaggeration to say that every photo was the way you described...some had lines, but only a couple had the crooked poles and so many lines that they took away from the photo. I don't usually look for the negative in photos, but even when I did I didn't get the same thing you got. These electrical lines just don't give me a rash like they do you apparently.

http://www.developfultoncounty.com/dafc/images/minutes/2016/052616_May_Regular_Meeting.pdf

Seventh and Peachtree Hanover Tower, 309 East Paces Ferry, Peachtree and Third [P3 Venture] got final resolution. We might see some of these pushing forward soon.

For the new business:
*Kaplan Student Dorms
*Modera Buckhead
*High-rise replacing "Design Within Reach"
*Coro Realty Redevelopment in Buckhead near RoomsToGo
*AMLI Market Place (Atlantic Station, 10 story midrise)
*AMLI Oak Valley (Final two parcels of CityPlace development [one will be a 22 story high-rise, the other a 5 story low-rise])

http://www.developfultoncounty.com/dafc/images/agenda/2016/062816_Jun_Regular_Meeting_Agenda.pdf

Old Business listed: Piedmont Healthcare (assume is the new Tower on Peachtree), Modera Buckhead again, Retail portion of Sandy Springs City Springs

On the agenda for June was the following:

*Regent Partners Mixed use Condo/Office/Apartment project
*Global Payments HQ build out
*Possibly the George on Memorial (Urban Realty Partners)
*1138 Peachtree ie Yoo On Peachtree
*5th and Juniper
*A new Alta project Alta Park Avenue (where could this be going?)
*Peachtree at Stratford, Related Group tower
*Atlanta Dairies Project
*The Lennar Project on 13th next to Yoo on the Park
*99 West Paces Ferry
*$210 Million development by Allen Morris Company (Must be related to Sandy Springs City Springs)

Alta Park Avenue was the monstrosity proposed behind Phipps Plaza by Wood Partners - also known as 1000 Park Avenue.

Would be disappointing if this doesn't get off the ground.

This is a helluva list. While I'll be ecstatic if Yoo on Peachtree, Hanover Midtown, and 5th & Juniper all go under construction soon (not to mention the 13th st. project we know little about), the filling in of Atlantic Station and Buckhead is also great for the city.

Are the Kaplan student dorms different The Standard? Edit: Nevermind, I forgot the Kaplan proposal is the location off of Centennial.

Isn't this the development behind Sovereign that someone was asking about a few days ago? The two tower proposal on the parking lot behind the Pulte building?

98 14th was supposed to go in June, but that ended up being too optimistic. I am not sure if they will go in July. The SAP is being updated and should be submitted in the next few days. As noted, the design has reshuffled a little and with a project this big, that creates a lot of ripples.

It is and Regent Partners is probably able to self finance this project after they netted over $170 million last May selling the King & Queen building. Given the swift traction the proposed park over GA400 is making and being this project is adjacent to the proposed park, I would not be surprised to hear floors increase and/or it becomes more dense.

The developers of two just-announced Buckhead mixed-use high-rise projects—one in the high-density commercial district, the other in Buckhead Village–presented details of their plans to two Development Review Committees Oct. 1 and received mainly favorable responses.

Atlanta developer Regent Partners LLC has detailed plans for a large mixed-use project that features a 44-story office and condo tower next to the Buckhead MARTA station and pedestrian bridge. And a 27-story, 300-unit apartment tower. The project is planned to include 51 condominium units.

Here is a state of the multi-family market report: http://www.colliers.com/-/media/files/ma...2016Q1AtlantaMFMarketReport.pdf?la=en-US

SO much multi-family under construction in the Metro! Also 2015 had biggest year in terms of multi-family investment in the Metro's history.

45 under construction multi-family projects in the urban Atlanta metro, and over 50 proposals in the pipeline.

Also some new render of Venue Brookwood which is nearing completion behind Houston's:

That's an exciting list! I can't wait for Hanover Midtown (7th and Peachtree) to take over that ugly parking lot and give Peachtree even more continuity...very exciting times for Atlanta with all of this around the corner.
