Talk about garish.... that proposal in Calgary fits that perfectly! Edmonton's proposal needs to be cleaned up on the top floors.

I have to concur. That Edmonton proposal is laughable. I sure hope it doesn't get built. Poor Edmonton if it does.

The Calgary proposal is nice filler.

Emerald is absolutely Fugly. Not a Fan what so ever. The only redeeming qualities are the height and density factor.

Back to the drawing board for the design IMO.

You mean all the references to "93739 high rises over 132.74m under construction baby!"? Lol

Gentle puppies's point is that a self depreciating mention of a building type that happens to have no worthy example in Toronto at the moment isn't an indictment of Toronto and shouldn't make you feel personally wounded. How you make it about "vamcouverites shouldn't boast about their weather" is so SSP of u

Why was Toronto even brought up in the first place in the context of the original post? What point was trying to be made? Is it "so SSP" to take a totally unsolicited shot at another city to bolster a project happening in your own? I hope not. His post may as well has read "neener neener neener".

My point remains in why the Toronto area example was posted in the first place and the expected result that came to fruition. We're on the same side. You're just too arrogant to see it.

He gets it. He just chooses to pretend not to see the issue as per usual.

Why compare 2 structures that are/will be 30+ years apart in age in tge first place. It's such an obvious yet pointless jab at Toronto. Lol

No. 1 River Landing | Saskatoon, SK

A better look at the condo portion of the River Landing project (Alt Hotel/condo - office tower - office tower) has surfaced:

Here's a full render of the project:

Toronto's Urban Capital is the condo developer. Based on past projects it looks like they do high quality work. This latest render is reminiscent of Glasshouse in Winnipeg, while an earlier render reminded me of River City in Toronto:

Things are clearly still fluid.

Sigh lol

If I posted pictures of our gorgeous new subway stations, and some Vancouverite replies with their dinky single-tracked 40m platforms "meanwhile in Vancouver", I doubt the other Vancouverites will be piling on with pitchforks.

If the above forumers ever visit our local section (yes we have one), they would know I am also a Torontonian. Not that it should matter if we aren't a bunch of over-sensitive nerds defending our cities from "jabs" lol

Is 80 Atlantic a wood-frame / heavy timber building? Interesting to finally see that proposed (again, technically) in small scale commercial construction here. Also good to see further expansion of office space in Liberty Village.

That Prudhommes proposal looks really nice. It's a shame it's sort of in the middle of nowhere and squeezed by that huge highway...

Would've been a nice sort of waterfront development for places like Hamilton, Victoria, Kingston, Quebec City or even Halifax.

That Saskatoon No 1 River Landing is outstanding - love it. Not a single city in the country that wouldn't be better with that development.

Agreed. Between this and the new art gallery it will be amazing to see in a few years time.

Here's another one for Halifax. Adding onto the Scotia Square complex:

This drawing shows the variance in width.

New rendering for Brenton Place:

Another interesting bit of news is that the developer of King's Wharf has announced that they'll be marketing a 33-storey tower starting in September. They plan to begin construction next summer. Updated renderings should be coming soon.
