I read Iveson's blog and he seems to be under the impression that there's no retail in the podium at all, and is comparing it with 104 St which has above-ground parkades. That's why I think he's out to lunch in that regard

^^ That's not what I read at all. He's not against above grade parking, but believes there should be "commercial or residential activity in front of the parking" for the frist few floors which is the case for the majority of the above grade parking on 104 Street.

I understand where they are going and all, but once again, moving football, volleyball, basketball and now hockey to South campus is devaluing their importance and impact to actual campus life. I used to go to the above and stopped once it moved as going to RATT and walking down to a bustling campus and gym was fun, hoping on a train to the middle of nowhere was not. I am going to have to get my Bears games in over the next couple of years I guess...

160 metres. I think the tower looks like shit. Podium looks okay, but I think could be set back a couple of metres to allow for more permeable uses at the ground level.

I think it's hard to tell how this will look, in the renderings it doesn't look so good, but the Pearl looked really bad in the renders too, so who knows.

Looks like the colored glass podium is gone as well
All those giant balconies on the West side are giving me angina
For me, it's a 45 storey turd

They have to create a sense of place. The Saville Centre is akin to a suburban warehouse. So far, the built forms at the south campus is destroying any chance of creating a place that fosters creativity, innovation, and campus life. It is embarrassing. The South Campus is turning into the North Campus' illegitimate adhd younger brother. You're right, the place making needs to create a place that builds upon the university experience vis-a-vis university sports.

no beefs with the height or podium parking, but man.. that one messy looking building

I do like that Regency has kept their momentum going with all these projects.. filling spots all over the core, but their branding and design need some serious work

this building says 'emerald' like the original red roof down the street said 'pearl'

CNIB looks great though

I would have voted no not because of the Podium....but the over all design. This looks Fugly.

The tower is ok... better than some of the others new ones potentially, but the podium is a mess from floors 2-4.
