I don't think the glass will be clear, they likely won't want people to see inside the crown, will probably look similar to EAP's crown, just 10x better. What I'm hoping is that it lights up nicely at night, and that they put colour changing LEDs in there too, that way the crown can be programmed for special events like the tower is.

I think that's where they usually light up the Building and they suppose to do it. It will definitely be light up at night.

After seeing the beginning of the crown installation (along with my desire for it to be a bit taller) couldn't help but think how great it would look if they doubled up and set back another level of the curved crown - kinda like such

Eliminates some of the "Flatness" and would create even more interesting lighting feature.. Just a dream though

I wouldn't say clear glass is out of the question although I'd prefer the current look right to the top. The parapet's structure has a clean, finished look to it and there's more than enough room to wall of the mechanical penthouse from view.

Think it will be very hard to spot the curve glass on top from just about any angle. The only purpose of glass there would be for the lighting scheme's benefit; light will filter skyward.

Your desire to be taller and still look original like the design is to Add more floor before they start on the crown... but anyway this one here you did with another small crown up town might look taller on skyline but from ground view it is still 247m because you can't seee that smaller one up top.

That sounds perfect!
Hope that's what they do.

Didn't actually add any floors - only copy/pasted the curved bits from the second tower on the original diagram. I suppose you're right though.. Looking up from the ground you would only know that it was exactly 247m. Just like the height of Bankers Hall is only (whatever) because I can't see the crown from the ground.

My understanding is the glass is clear, however likely that the back panel of glass will be coated so you don't see right through.

Yeah this is what I meant. This will maintain the continuity of the glass, but also provide screening.

Just watched them hoist up a big piece of equipment to the roof, assume it's one of the RTUs.

I strongly disagree. The current design is elegant in its simplicity. This would add a stepback that would do nothing for those that dismiss the concept as "boring" and take away from the simple elegance with a needless addition.

I agree that it would take away from the simplicity of the design by adding a feature that no one would really even see. On top of that, the roof is where mechanical units and lots of building services are located, adding this would reduce the space for these key pieces that actually make the building function. I do still find it a bit boring though...

Oh, and this building looks to be noticeably taller than the Bow from the west side of the city now.

Yeah with the crown going in it is starting to appear noticeably taller from a few angles. It'll always appear shorter or flush with the Bow from the Northeast though.

Top connecting pieces on the crown appear to be done on the south side of the building. Beginning to look like a cohesive top now!
