Angry Save Central Library!

Did i miss a post about this?

The idea of destroying the Breuer library downtown is so stupid. Have we not turned the corner on adaptive reuse yet? Hopefully, the good souls who turned out for this meeeting had an impact.

Oh my god let's hope not. Surely some lessons have been learned from past blunders - and this would be a huge one.

http://clatl.com/freshloaf/archives/2016...do-over-on-library-demolition-resolution

There's been an update- now the city council wants a "do-over" to rescind the original non-binding resolution to be more clear that they want to keep the library downtown in some capacity but not insinuate the current building be demolished as originally worded.

Basically they're backtracking from the backlash......

So it was either a misunderstanding or proponents of demolishing the building have backed down. Either way the building appears safe (for now). http://atlanta.curbed.com/2016/6/23/12006364/atlanta-central-library-demolition-city-council

Looks like a great addition to the area. Love the use of the second floor.

They had such a specialized exterior treatment to that corner I was assuming something had to be already slated for that space.

Last I heard, they were trying to break the leasing space into smaller units. Roc and CB2 are too big of a space for the stores I think would done well. I'm not sure clothing stores will ever do well at this location. I could be wrong. Atlanta has been sold short, and have proven over and over again to do what everyone else said can't be done in a sprawling city.
QT opened today and was really busy.

This would be perfect for the 14th 98 project. I wonder if they are in talks with them.

Thanks for the add! I almost didn't recognize the location. Did you take it from the Four Seasons?

Looking dense! Of course there's the gaping Dew-nothing hole in the center left part of the image at 10th and Peachtree.

Pic is amazing, hard to believe what it looked like 5 years ago. Dew-Nothing should be embarrassed.

Midtown Spring and the Post project will finally add rectangular buildings to the Midtown skyline that are longer north-south than east-west like all the other apartment buildings in Midtown. It should help the skyline from other angles in terms of appearing denser

By Midtown Spring are you referring to Modera Midtown? 880 W. Peachtree would also add to that, assuming it goes.

Mob

I cannot recall if it was mentioned, but the MOB parcel is fenced up and current structures are being demolished.

Where did all the parking lots go? I only see a couple of smaller ones...5 years ago they would have been plentiful.
