The only other viewing I do is for shows/movies - and I never watch them live on the air... it's streamed or downloaded. So I'm rarely exposed to commercials.
Maybe in other places, but not so much here. Maybe the going rate is too high... back in the 80s when a typical NHLer earned maybe $200K you could entice him to do an endorsement for a modest amount, but these days how much would you have to throw at a well-known player to make it worth their time? It may just not be worth it.

With the NHL having been away for so long it's easy to see the contrast between then and now... it's not like NHL players were having snowball fights with local kids all the time back then, but they were certainly more visible in the community than today's crew which basically lives in a bubble with the barest minimum media availabilities, and for the most part hightails it out of town as soon as the season ends.

^That looks pretty reasonable and given that kind of sale for game one, if the atmosphere is reasonable I'm optimistic the Argos could be averaging 25,000 for the year.

If BMO does hold 30,991, tonight looks like it might be in the 28,000+ range. Maybe for bums in the seats as opposed to paid sales as well.

^ With so few empty seats left it'll probably look full on TV for all intents and purposes. Although the large, non-irregular blocks of available seats lead me to believe that there are probably more unsold seats that just aren't being shown on that seating map.

And I thought BMO's football capacity was 25,000? So really, anything over 20K will guarantee solid fan atmosphere.

BMO holds ~27k for football. I think the original plan was 25k for football, but it was bumped to 27k .

It hold 30,991 in MLS format - CFL is more in the 27,000 range.

It's 27K? I must have missed that, thanks for filling me in.

That's good, I thought 25K was a little on the small side for Toronto although I guess 27K makes sellouts a bit more of a challenge right now as the team rebuilds its fanbase. Still, having been to many Bomber games at a less than full CanadInns Stadium and IGF, I maintain that 20K+ is enough to provide good fan atmosphere in a stadium of BMO's size.

Indeed. Thanks for the clarification on capacity everyone. It still looks like 25,000 is a definite possibility.

Argo CEO Mike Copeland (26k at 35 sec) has been using 26k, that interview was in Feb, he repeated 26k again recently, June 1. Michael Copeland Argos CEO on TSN Overdrive (26k at 34:45)

^ A good walk-up crowd at BMO tonight will fill many of those remaining seats. And with all the pre-game concerts and tailgating, I would think a good walk-up crowd is likely.

I just did a quick ratio of empty to filled seats and use the virtual venue map to come up with ballpark number of empty seats. I only did this for the sections with the most unfilled seats, which are sections:
- 204: 255 empty
- 205: 90 empty
- 209: 44 empty
- 223: 308 empty
- 224: 226 empty
- 225: 141 empty
- 117: 67 empty
- 113: 114 empty
- 127: 240 empty

The total ballpark tally for these sections is roughly 1485 empty seats.

There's still hundreds for sale on Stubhub as well - you can get 13 in a row together for less than $12 each

I don't see how anyone can call that arena ugly. Probably just jealousy. I know I am! I'd pick this over something that resembles tupperware that looks like it was in the microwave too long.

Doesn't appear to be much movement on the Argonaut tickets over the last four hours so it is going to be walkups and there appears to be a rather large number of resellers on the markets. Damn. It would be nice to go see the Argos play there for cheap.

I'd love to know where you get your tin foil. My tin foil doesn't look anywhere near as impressive...

BMO was beautiful tonight on TV. Couldn't see a hint of Red anywhere in the stadium. Bet that made the RPBs furious.

Wow. Rogers Place looks unreal. The siding looks great I don't think I have ever seen anything similar.
