Underground parking for 385 cars. Only with Metro Vancouver land values would a suburban religious building situated on farmland at sea level have underground parking

Considering the location of the temple, I cannot undertand why people were against the first proposal and it was deemed too tall (in Richmond??). I agree that it would have looked great, but even the new proposal looks like a nice addition and something little special.

Hamilton unveils its new waterfront Pier 7 boardwalk

On Monday, the City of Hamilton launched its new boardwalk at Pier 7.

The $3.8 million, 150-metre long boardwalk features 12 docks for visiting boaters, 14 new benches and six new lounge chairs for the public.

There are eight planters showcasing perennial and annual flowers and trees.

Redevelopment of Pier 7 and Pier 8 will continue over the next 10 years, with much of the public spaces and infrastructure to be completed by 2018.

The entire project is expected to be completed by 2026.

There will also be minor enhancements to Piers 4 and 5 during that time.

This is utterly fantastic. So exciting for Hamilton. And it's about time, too.

It's a shame that the urban fabric in the North End between the waterfront and downtown is so crappy, though. I imagine over the next few decades new development will start to filter through the North End via infill and maybe even expropriation.

Hopefully they do it right. Hamilton's already had some infill success stories, so the precedent is there.

Totally fair to compare a building designed by New Canadians back in the 90's to a structure designed 25 years later. If we want to compare apples to oranges then we can also do this. The main difference here is these two are only about 4 years apart in design not 25.

Some new renders of the Adelaide and Charlotte 46 storey rental proposal. You can't really tell from the renders but the site is quiet small and the tower will be pretty slender. the first five floors will be office space and line up with historic warehouse structures nearby. this is the site of the failed 13 storey Langston Hall building.

I'm surprised this area hasn't seen a new rental building as far back as I can recall.

as the tower rises, the punched windows gradually increase in size as the solid cladding's surface area shrinks, transforming into an almost fully-glazed exterior about two thirds of the way to the top. It will have the same fully automated parking system that Massey Tower is getting as well. The site is only 560 square metres and the towers floorplates will be just around 400 sq metres.

Would it be weird of me to see some merit in the designs that seem intended to adapt traditional religious structures to Canadian reality? On the other hand, the Hindu temple in traditional style is magnificent.

I like this. Looks interesting and different without trying too hard.

That's my only concern/criticism really. That it's a disconnected urban oasis.

Once the LRT B-Line with the addition of the spur line to the waterfront it should really help connect the waterfront to the downtown. The new West Harbour GO Station is already making a difference.

Plus it's a fairly short gap. Looking at Ottawa's west end gaps like that can be filled in pretty quickly.
