Snapped a pic of 13 Leopold on my coffee break each day for a couple of days now. Bye bye Glass House.

The dome looked very shiny today. It's supposed to take a year for it to go black again so I think there's lots of time to see it. I expect they are working toward having the scaffolding down for Canada Day.

Isn't the Academy Park Road the one that the a developer asked council to approve splitting into two lots so they can demolish and put two houses in? The lot is something like 6 inches too narrow so it wasn't approved. This was only in the last month or maybe two months.

No, it wasn't. And that one is already two lots.

You're thinking of the place on Acadia Drive. That's just a junky old bungalow that they want to tear down and squeeze two sardine can houses onto the lot.

I was just thinking that some of the best tear down locations are on Douglas Cres. Amazing Wascana Park view, especially if you replaced the bungalows with a 2 storey. When I checked Google maps, there is a rebuild underway!

Oh yeah, absolutely. I'd say also the houses on the south side of Quinn Drive would be prime for two-storey rebuilds with a second floor balcony overlooking the lake and park. Currently most of them are bungalows and the trees/bushes would block the view.

McDonald St. south of Douglas is pretty prime too. Anything along there would be once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for a buyer if they ever came up for sale. There are very few residential properties in Regina that have an unabated view of Wascana Park/Lake.

Wow. Monster garage on the back of that new build. Almost looks like a workshop / business.

This house has been done for about 2 years, very nice house. I don't think they have completed landscaping though. There was another house on Douglas Crescent that was up for sale last spring I believe. Thought it would be a tear down but it appears whoever bought it is slowly doing renovations.

It looks like more of the scaffolding is coming off the Leg Dome today. It is still really shiny, but there definitely has already been some tarnishing.

Hopefully the scaffolding will be off in time to get some good pictures for posterity.

Yeah I think this is going to tarnish a lot faster than they were saying.

Agreed. Get the scaffolding off so the public can enjoy it. Why is that such a difficult thing to understand with respect to the public's perception of the project as a whole. The longer it takes the less excited people are going to be about the cost and timeline of the entire project.

This morning, the crane operator said to me that the luster is going rather quickly. They should have covered the dome with some sort of cover or "cloth" instead. Disappointing. Two-year-long project and already fading.

Development On Arcola/Vic Corner?

At the corner of SK Drive/Arcola & Victoria Avenue, there's a bunch of land clearing/digging happening on the north side (close to the Regina Auto Auction). Does anyone know what this is for? As well, it appears they're going to re-develop what used to be the Chinese Pastry business on Victoria Avenue (across the street from Miso). Does anyone know what's happening there?

If you go back a few pages there is a discussion on the re-alignment of Arcola between Vic and Winnipeg. The City has planned to relocate the street to the north and we presume they are starting preliminary work this.

Hopefully that former pool hall where the Chinese pastry is will be demoed.

China Pastry is still there though? I just picked up some buns this last weekend ... or were they previously in that Dad's organic foods portion of that strip? China Pastry and the old Dad's building next door definitely need some TLC though...

Love the weathered chipboard façade. Beautiful to have on our main Avenue.

Any idea what is going beside minute muffler ? They built a fairly large two story office space in that lot.
