An example at the mall there are two empty spots near Sobeys (Old Blacks location and the old Jugo Juice loacation) these have remained empty for at least a year without a solid a tenant. And on Trinity the old Bowrings and the old Danier Leather those spots remained to be filled.
One more thing on Mapleton I am wondering why it takes so long for it to get built up we have prime land there for development and no one coming to claim it that's the question on how I measure the success of a city and I know it can take time.
I am not trying to paint a negative picture of the retail sector in Moncton I base my judgement based on empty locations and Idle for sale or lease land not being developed.
But that is my 10 cents on the issue.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion
In my opinion though I have seen a lot of redundant strip mall and power center type developments all over the metro area pop up in the last 5 years. Also given the fact that Canada has seen a retail contraction for quite a few major chains I'm honestly very happy when I drive around town or go into the mall and see things are very healty looking in general and better than expected in some cases (BPS, both Targets filling so fast)
Just think of some developments in recent memory:
New and "Only NB Location"
Bass Pro Shops
Cabelas
DSW Shoe Warehouse
Ashley Furniture
Party City
Banana Republic Factory Store
Victoria Secret
Fossil
Jack & Jones
Pandora
Moxies Grill & Bar
Mashalls
Linen Chest
Hyba
Zumiez
Golf Town
Swarovski
MAC Cosmetics
Sephora Cosmetics
Mode Choc
Bombay
New and "Largest in NB"
Canadian Tire
Goodlife
The Brick
Plus 7 full service Starbucks (6 of which are quite new) compared to 4 total in Saint John and 2 total in Fredericton.
Again things aren't all rosy but could be much worse!
