If anyone is bored and has good graphic skills, I am curious to what our skyline would look like today with One Mile High Plaza, Reliance Center, Capitol Tower, YMCA Tower, Tabor 2 , the original 1401 Lawrence, and the El Jebel were ever built.

1401 Lawrence

One Mile High Plaza

Reliance Center

Capitol Tower

El Jebel

YMCA

Tabor 2

A long time ago, I once did a rendering of all of Denver's unbuilt towers in our skyline. It was a poor attempt, as getting an angle of the skyline where all could be seen was difficult, and some towers were actually proposed for the same site under different iterations/landowners.

However, there's this...

Of course, Denver's biggest obstacle is our lack of corporate headquarters. Being the HQ's for an entity like McDuck Enterprises would really put us on the map.

Also, here is something I recently ran across. I have absolutely no details about it, other than it was a 1929 proposal to expand the Brown Palace Hotel.

I love that version of Tabor 2 at 43 stories/630 ft. Add another 10 stories and Denver would have a new tallest.

All it would take... all I ask... is for one "trophy tower" rising into the middle of our skyline (the peak effect). Just look at how the Library Tower in LA would completely transform the message of our skyline:

Question Colorado Convention Center Upgrade

Does anyone have information on the recently approved Colorado Convention Center upgrade?

I'm looking to buy a condo downtown, and I'm trying to figure out if my views could be blocked by the new roof.

Thanks in advance!

Everything up to this point has been conceptual. Actual design hasn't started.

Just do what everyone else does. Buy your condo first and then try to stop the project later because it'll block your view! /sarcasm

I like the leaning light pole; Snazzy.

Light fixtures, trees, broken pavers, unbroken pavers, pop-ups, even some of the people all look nicely done.

If I recall there will not really be anything added to the convention center. Just modifications to the existing structure. This is what you will need to probably worry about though.

What a stunning project. I am genuinely excited to see this finished. I do find the rejection comments depressing; there is not a clear enough expression of a bottom, middle and top, the awnings might be of plastic (although I read weathered metal and wood). Can't they firstly see that it matches the vernacular and sometimes it is the exceptions to planning design rules that give a cultural depth to an area. I love it and I am delighted to see the angled brick treatment that we see in the Wing buildings that change their shadows as the sun moves.

Depending on location of the condo, I suppose the higher roof line at the convention center could block some views. The rooftop addition is itself pretty cool looking, so maybe that's not the end of the world.

I was really impressed with this. They did an amazing job with the "input" from the review process and almost every response they had was a major improvement over the original.

This is a great project.!
