Heard today from an inside source that excavation on the new SFU building is set to begin as early as August.

A dumpster appeared on-site of the multi-unit house on the lane this week, with ripped out carpet in it. Maybe being prepped for demo? I heard the city is trying to buy the green house fronting 102A Ave. The city already owns the 3 tree'd empty lots next to it. They bought those and demo'd the houses a few years back.

Yeah I noticed the dumpster the other day on route to the gym.

University drive is going to look very different in the next few years.

It sure is. I've seen preliminary concepts for the SFU building and it will really transform the block. Also the intersection of 102A/102 and University Dr is being re-configured as part of the development. 102A will be re-aligned to run through the current Surrey Central bus loop.

there was a recent announcement that a new casino was going to open south of fraser, one possible being surrey. Hepner said it will most likely be in north or central surrey. i take this as being scott road or central city.....this would be a great way to get arena built, and there wouldnt be much if any neighborhood opposition if it was built near scott road.....

Scott road makes perfect sense as its close to the city centre without it actually being in. It would finally add a night life in Surrey.

It would be better in the City Centre, precisely to add some night life that doesn't involve shooting up heroin.

Around scott road is prertty industrial, I dont see a point in adding night life to that area. Surrey has already said no to a casino twice, not sure if they will say yes this time

I've always liked the lots north of the Chuck Bailey Centre up to 108 AVenue to be a location for a 5 to 10,000 seat arena. Could turn 108 Avenue between University Drive and King George Boulevard into more of an entertainment hub.

It's shocking to see how many SFH's are being sold off in Whalley. Nustream signs are EVERYWHERE.

Hopefully newer developments don't end up like the Quattro. Christ, it looks like a ghetto already inside.

What's wrong with Quattro? Just the people who ended up living there?

Are you sure these other SFHs being sold are for redevelopment into multifamily?

It's not about the people as it is about the upkeep.

The Quattro 1 & 2 building is perhaps one of the worst "newer" apartments I have checked out to date. The walls were cold to the touch in many spots on a 12 degree day and it was quite clear that insulation was improperly done. Lastly, the noise...there was no soundproofing and it was evident by all the talking you would hear upstairs. Basic fixtures are already in disrepair and some units require extensive work to flooring and cabinets.

The entire area between 132nd ST and 140th st (between Fraser Highway to 108th) will be eventually redeveloped for multi-family townhomes and apartments. That's the master plan. How rapidly this occurs depends whether or not if the frenzy of activity continues.
