My company is moving into the CBC headquarters in August, joining two other businesses leasing space there. The CBC are being stickler landlords and don't appear to be happy about the idea of sharing space with private companies.

The building on the south east corner of Rebecca and King William is undergoing some modest renovations. They're redoing the entrances and repainting the dormers & cornice. Nothing fancy, but it looks nice. Probably preparing for their neighbour to start growing.

Did you mean Rebecca and James?

Rebecca and King William do not intersect, they run parallel to each other.

I contacted the downtown mosque on York Blvd as I was wondering if they had plans for the north side of their property, as it's a bit of an eyesore at the entrance to our downtown. Here is the response I received.

"Yes, we do have plans. In fact, we just spent a weekend cleaning up years of debris that was left over from the previous owner and we'll be working with Environment Hamilton on a pollination project over the next weeks that will include planting flowers and trees around the property."

We have to remember that Hamilton is still early on on it's renaissance, while there are plenty who can see how great it is and how great it's going to be, there's a pretty large contingent both inside and out that thinks it's 1996. It feels like slow motion, but it's moving.

I think a lot of the windows on the main floor are covered with boards and some others were bricked up. I'm sure the reno will include opening all of that up to the street. Probably a patio along King William.

St. Marks $1.9 million restoration approved

A heritage property on Bay Street South is about to undergo a massive facelift.

City politicians have approved phases 2-and-3 of the St. Mark’s restoration at a cost of 1.9 million dollars to be funded from the tourism and culture capital budget.

Phase one has already been carried out, including roof repairs, at a cost of one million dollars.

Ward 2 Councillor Jason Farr believes the former Anglican Church will become a destination for weddings and other events once the work is completed, as well as a gathering place for neighbourhood and community groups.

Ward 8 Councillor Terry Whitehead who supported the initiative, stresses that he’ll be looking for a similar result when a plan for the future of Auchmar Estate is presented later this month.

I noticed this morning that there's a large "Sold" sign on the side of 35 John Street S., at the corner of Main St where the Up Lounge and then western themed night club was.
