Found a related article from 2015 http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/print...se-project-proposed-for-howell-mill.html
I don't even understand what lot it's referring to...on google maps, it's showing the apartment midrise with West Egg on the street level. It's not the Star Metal project right?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what lot they're referring to now. http://lavista.com/Portals/21/PropertyAg...01084%20B%20Howell%20Mill%20Rd_Flyer.pdf

I would hate to live right along the train tracks honestly.

I was at the Crawford Long Hospital in Midtown and noticed this across the street:

The hospital's windows are dirty and have mini-blinds built into them and the lens is dirty, too... so, the photographs are bad. I won't even try to improve them.

What is proposed for this former hotel site? It appears as if it's being prepared for demolition or implosion?

While the hospital could use an interior remodel in the older structures, they had great people working there, several beautiful spaces, an aviary, and a beautiful skyscraper lobby with an amazing view of downtown.

I remember seeing the article about the renovation of this website but I can't find it...pretty sure it was on Curbed Atlanta though. I want to say it was apartments. I don't remember it being demolished though, but renovated.

@Matthew:

That building at 549 Peachtree is being remodeled into apartments/lofts called The Byron. The dead zone grows ever shorter.

The police had definetely step up raids and the new development have cleared the male prostitues up. You still see straglers near the backside of the Marta station near cypress. Now if they get the drag queens off the street hanging out in front of people yards off side street on Peachtree.

I like the drag queens...why can't they be on the street? We just need other people mixed in with them I guess.

True story: I lived in one of those big houses on Myrtle Avenue near Ponce de Leon in the mid 90s, when it was a hot spot for picking up prostitutes (female and trans). We threw a Halloween party and had put a sign outside on our front lawn so that our friends could find our house. Well, early in the party two hookers rang our bell and asked if they could join the party. We said yes, the more the merrier, and they were sweet and fun. That's the Atlanta, and Midtown specifically, that I know and miss.

Good story. These people are part of Atlanta's and especially Midtown's history and culture and probably love Atlanta just like the rest of us. I've met a few drag queens and street hustlers in my time and they are by and large just regular people trying to make a buck. I'm not sure I would want hookers in my house (they aren't the most trustworthy bunch) but they can have interesting personalities for sure.

Check out this video from 1989; the gang goes shopping at Lenox. In the beginning you see the old C&S tower where BoA is now. I watched them disassemble this building after watching BoA (NationsBank) get built. They then drive up Peachtree. The group of buildings they are lamenting the loss of is where The Fed is now. Lots of bars on this strip including Weekends and The Bar on Peachtree. And then on to Lenox.

I worked on the 20th floor of One Georgia Center (white building across West Peachtree from BOA)...watched them place the spire on top of BOA with a helicopter and saw them take down the C&S building piece by piece. I watched the Lenox video earlier too - that was the Lenox I remember when I moved here. Record Bar! Good times!

Midtown is starting to feel very different with all these gaps filling in. Took these over the weekend:

NCR HQ and Modera:

You can see Modera's pool and tower shape starting to form.

Atlantic House and 22 14th:

Didn't get a picture of it, but 14th has a dense urban vibe with Atlantic House, and will even more with 22 14th and 98 14th. Same is happening with West Peachtree.

Hanover West Peachtree and Modera in the back:

Alta - 33 Peachtree Place

Does anyone know if there was an announcement about 98 14th at the food and wine festival?

Adding an image for reference. Somewhat comical due to the hangout at Chevron, downtown skyline at the 14th st cluster, and people out and about at the funeral home... but overall it's going to be a great addition to the area.

Atlanta council approves Bobby Jones Golf Course land swap

The Atlanta City Council agreed Monday by a 12-3 vote to give the Bobby Jones Golf Course to the state as part of a deal that will help with the sale of Underground Atlanta to a private developer.Under the proposal, the state would get the city-owned golf course, Bitsy Grant Tennis Center and Atlanta Memorial Park, while the city would acquire state property near Underground, including a parking deck that Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said is needed for a developer’s planned overhaul of the downtown mall.

The state plans a new Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, renovations to make the 18-hole course a nine-hole facility and new practice grounds for Georgia State University and other state college and youth golf programs.

Okay that's what I was thinking...not sure how it's listed on the Atlanta development map tho. I think we all wish it was taller, but it's still good infill.
