^Agreed. We don't need that stuff here.

Moving on to actual ugly buildings. Here's Calgary's Ikea in Deerfoot Meadows.

I have spent countless hours trapped in this horrible hamster maze buying furniture for my home and office. Some Ikea furniture is actually decent and you can't beat the price, but dear God is it an exhausting experience. First you have to navigate that horrible store and fight crowds of people being funneled through it like cattle, then you have to locate the pieces in the ginormous and confusing warehouse where no one can ever be present to help you, then you have to get it to your car and load it, then you have to assemble it with their hieroglyphics inspired instructions. Awful from start to finish.

True story: I once saw a family going into Ikea here wearing head to toe matching camo.

Even worse than Ikea is their knock off competitor Jism / Jysk:

^ Jysk opened up a bunch of stores in Winnipeg back when there was no IKEA here. AFAIK they're all still in business, which I find downright amazing considering the inferior nature of their merchandise. IKEA is a pain to navigate, but it's almost always cheaper and better than their competitors.

Personally I was always fond of this particular Scandinavian retailer:

Glad you enjoy them. I sometimes wonder if you guys are sick of them yet.

Niagara Falls looks like it might be the ugly capital of Canada (Laval Clocktowet notwithstanding). Is Marineland located there? If so that seals the deal. Also, I imagine that strip of restaurants in the picture I photoshopped to smell like diarrhea.

No way. What's not to love about explosions and destruction.

While searching for more images of Niagara Falls' skyline I came across this Air Canada Vacations picture of a room at the Skyline Hotel. I'm hoping the photo is just out of date but something tells me it's not. Blanche and the Golden Girls would love it!

As distrubing as these photos/video are to me, I'm glad you posted them, as a reminder to my self how terrible some of these places are and to reflect back again in having to deal with these type of issues in my own backyard, so to speak..
