cranes are up at the broad and callowhill projects. They aren't tower cranes though, they are similar to what I saw on the apt project going up in Manayunk. Everything is controlled from ground level.

6 new tenants, pop-up art installation join Bok building in South Philly

Quote:
The former Bok Technical High School added half a dozen new tenants and a temporary art exhibit this week, continuing the relatively new owner's plans to establish a "creative center" in South Philadelphia.

The six new tenants include the Garces Foundation, the charitable arm of the restaurant group; Top Banana Printing; Revival Letterpress; and furniture design company, Milder Office, Scannapieco said.

The additions pushes the property, located at 1901 S. 9th St., to just over 10 percent occupancy of its approximately 216,000 square feet of leasable space, she added. Currently, 26,000 square feet is leased.

Wilmington developer takes over Old City's National apartment project

Quote:
Wilmington developer Buccini/Pollin Group is teaming with a labor-backed financial partner to complete a long-languishing apartment project at the former site of National Products restaurant-supply business in Old City, known for its orange glazed-tile Art Moderne facade and stainless-steel signs.

The developer joined the AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust to buy the project from an affiliate of Old Hill Partners of Darien, Conn., in a deal that closed Friday, said Michael Hare, Buccini/Pollin's senior vice president for development. Hare declined to disclose a purchase price.

The partnership plans to start construction late this year at the now-empty 46,000-square-foot lot near Second Street and Elfreth's Alley, where the long-vacant National Products building had stood, Hare said. It aims to complete the six-story, 192-unit development by spring 2018.

I am just going to throw it out there and say that the building there now is much worse. I always dreamed that when Philly was rebuilt, Spring Garden and Washington avenues would be lined with high rises though. I guess there is plenty of abandoned and empty lots along the way to make that dream come true.

Id love to know why developers aren't doing anything on Spring Garden, east fo Broad. It looks horrible. Vacant buildings left and right, very little new construction. It's just stagnant in spite of all the investment in Northern Lib and North Broad. I was near 11th and SG and it's a sad sight. We have tons of activity in N. Liberties, Kensington and Fishtown, but the area between Vine Street and SG is still mostly run down.

1) Terrible Owners.
2) City doesn't do anything to force (or encourage) said Terrible Owners into doing anything more with their property.

That's basically the explanation of every underperforming lot/space in greater CC.

I would like to know why JFK plaza renovation has stalled. There were people removing old tiles and soil, but nothing is happening there now.

Could it be work on the underground garage that needs to be completed before they move further?

Kenney probably wants to reconsider what Nutter decided and move Love Park to Broad and Washington. That way, Blatstein can propose Christmas Sky Village at this location.

That's an old plan from 2014. Townhouses are planned for the site now.
