More pics from the Rideau Centre. The first one is one of the space Richtree (or was it Marche) used to occupy with new floor tiles and the elevator gone. Any guesses on what will go there? Guest Services could work.

The next two are signage showing who's coming to the expansion.

DISNEY!!!!! Glad this is confirmed... I find the mall made a huge mistake not renewing their lease all those years ago... Glad to see Disney forgave them and decided to return to Rideau Centre. I don't blame Cindy as much as it was probably Vikings fault for wanting more "upscale" tennants. Clearly that didn't work out and we all know how Cadillac/Fairview seem to know how to run a mall much better then Viking ever did. Welcome back Disney. Ottawa and everything east of Toronto needed this badly

Really excited about Rudsak, finally! We did have one in Ottawa a long time ago, it was actually located were the Nestle Toll House on Rideau St. They should have always opened in the Rideau Centre.

Brown's Shoes and Terra20 are moving in next to each other on the second floor. It's nice that local companies like Magpie, Terra20, Mrs. Tiggy Wingles, and up until recently, Shepherd's, could have space in our main downtown mall. Gives the mall a little local flare. I also saw a sign for Sushi Bento on the lower floor near the open space where the elevator used to be.

I am sorry that I have not been writing for a while in the forum. I was very busy doing my Master's degree in Classical Studies, but I have finished yesterday. By the way, I walked in the Rideau Centre yesterday and I saw that they are going to open a Browns shoes store on the second floor across from Apple and a Terra20 next to it. I saw that the EB Games are on the ground floor where Laura Secord use to be and a Garage store will be in the location where the former HMV store use to be. I know that the Disney Store, Anthropologie, Bridgestone, Simon's, Massimo Dotti,Skechers, and Zara will be located in the expansion. However, I still do not see a permanent lease for the former Club Monaco, former Grand&Toy, former Hallmark, and former Customer Service Office locations. Do you have any idea what shops are going to go in that area? Even the former cinemas do not have a permanent lease. They have been closed down for over 3 years. Sooner or later, they have to come up with some permanent least for the former cinema space. Last December, when I spoke to the construction worker, he heard that a new cinema will take over, but it is not possible. First of all, all the seats, screens, and snack bars are removed. Second of all, I have heard that Cadillac Fairview does not want movie theatres. When I asked a construction worker about the former cinema space, he said that he did not know. The Rideau Centre expansion is suppose to open this August, so they better hurry up about deciding about the permanent lease of the former cinema space. Do you by chance know?

Welcome back Sylvia. You've been missed.

I wonder if Tesla might take the former cinema space for their Ottawa showroom.

Does anyone know if there's a freight elevator big enough to accommodate a car?

Tesla 'Galleries' are usually a very small footprint. I've been to three mall locations including the one in Toronto and they are about the size of a Bell Store or Lush. And always ground floor.

In addition, the cinema is on the 4th floor, not enough foot traffic. I taught that they were going downtown in the World Exchange Plaza.

I believe they just put the pin there randomly. From March this year:

"Georgeson said the company made a mistake by posting a map on its website showing a location at the corner of Metcalfe and Albert streets, with the promise that more information about that location is “coming soon.” The company had initially failed to return attempts to clear up questions about the location on Tuesday."

Would the cinema space be too small to fit Tesla? When I walk up to the fourth floor, there is still no sign what the former cinema space is going to be. I know that they built elevators and stairs near the former cinemas which is suppose to enter into the expansion. Are they going to build a pub near where the new Shoppers Drug Mart is now located on the ground floor where the old food court use to be or is a ticket office where people will buy tickets for the LRT? How did you guys enter into the construction of the expansion and take a picture? By looking at your photos, the Rideau Centre expansion is beginning to take shape.

Also, There was a post by Bridgehead on Twitter indicating they were going to (presumably) open on August 11th:

In the midst of a lot of planning for our Rideau Centre location! August 11th is gonna be grand, folks!

Looks like a storage area to me, full of bags of coffee beans and garbage pails.
