Yes and no.

The rink is north, these are hotels, condos, apartments, office, retail... But would they be there so quickly without the rink, no.

It would all make sense if he only had a machete in his hand and was wearing a hockey mask.

Nice views, but what ruins it for me is that damn river. So brown and silty. Just imagine how much nicer that would be with <relatively> clearer water flowing through the city.

That is a nice shot. I heart Montreal.

You know, I've always been enamoured with cities with big parks right next to the city centre. European cities do this right, but New York and Montreal are excellent examples for this on this side of the ocean. Actually, Vancouver is terrific for this, too. By contrast, Toronto sucks when it comes to urban parks. High Park is nice, but it should be right next to Bay Street. Trinity Bellwoods is alright, but it's not big enough, and not tucked deep enough into the urbanity for my taste.

Another thing I find fascinating is when cities have major parks or parkland that extend outward from the city centre without being hemmed in by the city, such that you could conceivably walk from the city centre to the countryside without encountering any urban build-up. Casa de Campos in Madrid is a unique example of this. There are now some newer suburban areas on the rural side of it, but originally it was simply a massive park bumping right up against the royal palace.

Valencia has this really cool meandering strip of parkland going right along the edge of the city centre and directly out to the countryside. Another interesting example is Santiago, Chile. The park there extends quite far into the centre of the city without being completely hemmed in by it. And when you look at Rome you see all of this unbroken countryside extending deep into the city itself.
