Pet Valu Pet Store is now open on Main Street behind CIBC and across from Superstore. It offers a Dog Wash area also for $10.

The new Pet Valu has an area that you can bring your dog in and give it a Dog Wash. They supply everything you need.

The other end of this plaza will be Sally Beauty. I had heard originally a possible Subway but the middle unit is way too big to be a Subway.

There is a Chaussures Pop Shoes Outlet Store moving into the old Co-op next to Giant Tiger on Montain Road. I am not sure how many shoes stores this town can handle. Probably as many women's clothing stores there are.

I gather this is only a temporary outlet store. It'll be gone within the month.

Not sure if this was mentioned already. The Sears Home store on Trinity next to Costco appears to be vacant and The Brick will be moving in soon. They are now hiring for the new Brick Store there.

Yea, they were taking the signs down today. Is the brick going to cover the whole building? If so that's a huge location for them!

AFAIK, Brick is taking over the whole building.

Sears sold most of their home stores across Canada to Leon's/Brick. Most have been converted to Leon's superstores. Since we already have a Leon's on Lewisville Road, our store is becoming Brick.

Any word IF Costco is planning an announcement on a possible move? It has been close to a month since we heard the rumour of them re-locating to Harrisville?

That is where it was said to be.

Ugh! Just looked at the Champlain floor map and Reitmans is moving to the old Gap location. There goes the Forever21 theory. What a disappointment, unless it's just a temporary move...

Indeed a disappointment. What a golden opportunity lost.

The same floor map confirms that Eastlink Wireless is moving in next to Spencers.

all in all, these moves do not support a theory of Champlain Place reinventing itself. It would seem that Champlain is merely waving a white flag in response to the aggressive revamping of Halifax Shopping Centre.........

Indeed, moving tenants around is not nearly as interesting as bringing new exciting tenants. Cadillac Fairview is known to have some of the top malls in Canada, if this lackluster trend continues at Champlain I would not be surprised to see them (CF) remove Champlain from their portfolio and sell the mall to other owners the same way they did with Regent and McAllister a few years back. Then again, we don't know if (new tenants aside) the mall is making money for them and worth keeping in the long term.

Lately the Moncton retail scene has been a real disappointment as of late. Although we landed Bass Pro shops and Cabelas there has been nothing that awed me as far as new stores. And to see what Cadillac Fairview is making the mall to be it almost looks like a dead mall and I certainly hope not. What the city needs to do is think out of the box for further retail developpemen. One thing that I would do if I would be Dawn Arnold is offset a tax discount to Tagner or Premier outlets to build an outlet center here in Moncton. And I feel that the retail sector in town is stagnant at best and we are loosing our edge to Halifax.

But if the situation does not change we will always play second fiddle to Halifax.

If we were to get an outlet mall, anyone think any of the outlet stores already around would move there?

They could depending on what outlet type center we could attract into Moncton. But the likelihood of that happening is next to nil... Lately the retail scene in town is worrysome due to the many empty prime storefronts and the length of them remaining empty. Look at the two empty storefronts in between Hallmark at the trinity power center they have been empty for close to a year. And in the best case scenario a retailer leaves town and another one is right beghind it. Another example is the length on how the mapleton center is filling up. And the few planned retail area's on mapleton that go from an idea to nothing . And one more spot would be mapleton crossing that showed promise and now is dormant after the opening of Cabelas, Princess Auto and the Ultramar.

I am not posting this as being negative but it's just frustrating that we are being outdone by Halifax, Fredericton, Saint John, and even Bangor maine on a few developments.

And does anyone have more info on what's going on with the project at the corner of Mcglauglin and Morton. And the project that was suppose to kick off at the corner of TCH and Elmwood.

Development at TCH & Elmwood needs sewer work first, which is ongoing.

Work at the corner of McLaughlin and Morton is going on at a good pace. There's an A&W sign up now on the fence, joining the banners for the drug store and Guacamole is committed to a new restaurant there. And something else whcih I am forgetting.

They're digging holes all along the other end of Elmwood. Could they be waiting for that work to finish?
