Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Wouldn't even be a blip.

Thank you very much Duff for the update. Good effort to get high enough to see over the podium of the building.

This was painted over the weekend. A very interesting marketing angle.

Ah, of course

So if I had to guess, one of the others is Gehry, and another is Hadid?

I'm personally a fan of the Royal Ontario Museum...

So the purpose of the sign is to justify tearing down the Roy bldg and not rebuilding the facade using original materials as had been promised at first?

And who are the people in this painted recreation of Mount Rushmore?

Based on that article they are prominent post-modern architects (basically THE ones that people refer to as "starchitects"). D.L. would be Daniel Libeskind.

I am of mixed feelings about most of their work, to be honest.

Admittedly, I only skimmed the article, but the people on the banner don't appear to be the same people mentioned in the article, if you look them up.

I didn't understand that to be the purpose. Perhaps it's just mitigation of construction site until cladding goes up?

Wasn't there some sort of Argyle-focused installation on the construction fence around the convention centre site?

That's what I get for abstaining from most social media!

https://twitter.com/TheRoyHalifax

Seems reasonable enough - I have become a little (perhaps too much) cynical lately regarding some Halifax developments, and thus sometimes assume the worst. My apologies.

LOL... I had no issues with the quality of the art, but was just questioning the intent.

But now I know "the rest of the story"...

I'm unsure how useful or successful it is if nobody knows who they are supposed to be, nor whom the quote is from.

We have 2 winners from our "guess the Roy Four" contest!! Congratulations to @karlealewis & @mandersoncooper! We will DM you the details!
I guess the point was that it wasn't supposed to be obvious who they were. I'd give it a while before deciding if it's "useful or successful", I imagine (or at least hope) that the quote will spark a bit of public dialogue.
