No news to report, but I happened to be in the area. It's been about seven years since I took a picture from this vantage point.

There were rumors a few months ago that the Tribune was looking to develop the Tribune Tower's rear parking lot. I also think we may see a new high-rise proposal from Antheus for 53rd/Cornell in Hyde Park

^Not just a rumor. Several development teams have been working on proposals for a full redevelopment of the Tribune tower block, including a likely adaptive reuse of the tower and annexes.

I feel as though Chicago should try to emulate's Philly's mural arts program where they have local painters and graffiti artists to paint canvases on the blank sides of buildings. It would certainly help with the ugly podium bases across downtown, as well as make abandoned buildings more pleasant to pass by.

There are a number in the south loop. Just take the orange line down to Roosevelt and back up.

I think we'll probably see some midrises at least. CHA shifted the RFP to focus on denser development as a way to underwrite more public housing units and support walkable neighborhood services.

I don't know how the negotiations have been progressing with the Cabrini LAC or neighborhood groups like NNUP, so maybe the density was reduced behind closed doors. That would be a shame. This area should be developed with nothing less than more midrises, like the ones already built at ParkSide or the new one going up at the CityFarm site.

I'm also disappointed with the high levels of parking provided in these midrises. The Division bus could be better but the Halsted bus is quite frequent and the site is walking distance to the Red Line at North/Clybourn or LaSalle.

300 N Michigan redevelopment would definitely be one to add to such a list......

AFAIK only along sedgewick will there be more midrises, rest will be low density, probably 3 stories max... along major arterials like chicago/clybourn/division will be higher density mixed use at least according to this http://www.thecha.org/assets/1/6/2015_Cabrini_DZP_Flyer_FINAL_April.pdf

This is definitely one of the best remaining undeveloped parcels in the city. I can't imagine a developer paying $100 million for the lot only to put up a 30 floor econobox.
