Correct. Having lived in both areas, it's definitely the latter.

A few shots from this pleasant evening

I took these tonight as I walked around Cira Green and then through Penn Park.

My favorite...

Does anyone know what is going on at the top? It looks like whatever they are working on is overhanging the edge of the building.

FMC Corp. moves into University City tower

Quote:
FMC Corp. plans to move this weekend into its still-under-construction University City headquarters tower, among the most prominent of the recent building projects that are reshaping the city's skyline.

The chemicals giant will be the first tenant in the glass tower that will bear its name near 30th Street Station, where it is to occupy 250,000 square feet over nine floors, communications chief Ken Gedaka said in an interview on Thursday.

Anyone know how they are already moving in? Isn't there still a small sliver of glass on the lower floors that's still not completed or is that just a lift?

isn't the roof of the shorter portion supposed to slope up and out rather than be flat?

Pretty sure that it will just be a crown, open at the top, as there also will be on top of the taller portion. I assume that both crowns will be added once the tower is topped out (which should be within the next couple of weeks, if not sooner). Both crowns can be framed out and have the glass attached at any time before construction is finished.

I figured they would have just built them with the rest of the steel frame.

Why would it be open at the top? I know some tall buildings are like that, but the slopes will be visible from a lot of angles. I don't think the renders showed them open.

Inside the sloped lower crown on the 28th floor is an outdoor "sky deck," open at the top. See pages 30-31 and 40-41 (as printed in the brochure, not the .pdf page numbers):

That's great. But reading the prior pages and the brochure in context, I think it's just depicting the view of the outside of FMC tower at p 31 from Cira Green. Pages 40-41 show the actual skydeck.

I don't think I realized there were longterm residences in addition to AKA's extended stay. Any information on sizes of these condos, number, and cost yet?

Nope, look again. Pages 30-31 depict and describe the "Sky Deck," "28 stories above the ground." And if you look at the red areas of the cross-section on the far right of page 30, you'll see that's exactly what the plan view shows on page 31 (also note the color-coded key across the top of page 31). Also, Cira Green is much bigger than the Sky Deck/lighter green area shown in the plan view on page 31, and this plan view also shows the crown wall all around the Sky Deck (which looks similar to the exterior building wall in this view). While the glass on the crown walls will be reflective from the outside, it will essentially be transparent from the inside (providing some terrific views).

You're right. I didn't read carefully and was looking at the PDF page numbers even though your post said not to. This will be great.
